The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the by-poll election of the Jatland Jind in Haryana. The latest figure shows the clear mandate is in the favour of the saffron party. The BJP secured 49,229 votes, while the Jananayak Janata Party (JJP) has polled 37,681. The Congress has garnered 19,611, with the LSP getting 12,508, and the INLD getting 3,020. This win sets the tone for the upcoming Lok Sabha and state assembly elections in 2019 and further substantiating the strategic approach of BJP to nominate Krishna Middha’s candidature, son of late INLD legislator Hari Chand Middha.
But at a point of time everything went haywire at the vote counting center. The Congress party, led by Congress’ candidate from Jind, Randeep Surjewala disrupted the poll process and further, the counting was halted for some time, alleging the malfunctioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Notably, counting was underway in Ramgarh Rajasthan as well where the Congress has won; there have not been any complaints regarding the EVMs.
In order to maintain the law and order, police finally resorted to lathi charge outside the Jind counting centre. Talking to ANI, SP Ashwin Shenvi said, “There was unlawful assembly (of people), which didn’t disperse when we asked them to. We had to use slight force to disperse them. The situation is normal now”.
The saffron party’s victory in the Jind by-poll is a mandate of people for the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s policies and good deeds. The no-non-sense CM that Manohar Lal Khattar has focused on governance while leaving the game of political mudslinging for the opposition. On 30th October last year, Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP has completed its four years of governance in Haryana. CM Khattar attracted both criticism and praises for his governance. The Khattar government was targeted on issues such as Jat agitation, Dera riots and Rampal’s Jailing. On the other hand, it received laurels for the development related works. Other initiatives such as The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme, CM Window, E-Governance, E-Bhoomi portal have been a huge success.

One of the major achievements of Khattar government are the steps taken by it to decongest Gurugram. It launched multiple development projects including flyover, over bridges and underpasses to decongest the city. Its effects are clearly visible on the grounds. There are many infrastructural projects started by the BJP government which are yet to be finished, once completed they will benefit a lot to people in Haryana. The Khattar government remains very popular among the people in the state. This is the first time that the BJP secured victory on the Jind seat.
On the other hand, Congress’ candidate Randeep Surjewala is tagged as “outsider” and ended on third position. It is clearly evident that the malfunctioning of the EVMs is nothing but a gimmick of the Congress party to conceive its defeat.
