Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, is rattled after Bihar Government asked him to vacate the bungalow allotted to him. On Wednesday, Tejashwi Yadav attacked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi for trying to evict him from his government bungalow.
Speaking to journalists after returning from Delhi, the RJD leader told journalists, “I can’t understand this desperate move by the Chief Minister to evict me from my official bungalow when the matter is pending in the Patna High Court… Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself occupies three bungalows, two in Patna and one in Delhi… he should first vacate them.”
Earlier, RJD leaders and legislators sat-in-protest in front of Tejashwi Yadav’s residence in order to prevent district officials from getting the government bungalow vacated.
The Patna High Court had recently rejected Tejashwi’s petition in which he challenged Bihar government’s order asking him to vacate the 5, Desh Ratna Marg bungalow for Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi. He further has challenged the Patna High Court’s decision and the next hearing in the matter is scheduled to be held on December 10.
He also said, “Nitish Kumar is afraid of me and therefore he is taking illegal steps to get me out of this house. The law and order situation in the state is deteriorating and Nitish is so afraid of me that he is focusing on me vacating this house. Since the matter is pending in court, sending officials to evict me from the bungalow is wrong.”
Tejashwi Yadav is throwing tantrums in the same way as SP leader Akhilesh Yadav did when he was asked to vacate the bungalow allotted to him. He has termed it as some sort of political vendetta carried out against him by CM Nitish. Political leaders like Tejashwi are expected to act responsibly without creating any bad precedence for others. This act of refusal by Tejashwi to vacate government bungalow after his term in public office got over is illegal, unprincipled and goes against any constitutional sanctity.

There is one more angle to the story; more or less it seems that Tejashwi Yadav is using this issue to distract the attention of party cadre and the media from the ongoing feud in the Lalu family. The family drama which has unfolded largely due to Tej Pratap and Aishwarya’s marriage has put the Lalu family in serious troubles. However, bungalow row is likely to make a comeback to haunt Tejashwi Yadav in the run-up to crucial 2019 Lok Sabha elections as he will be an object of target for his adamant approach regarding this issue. All these desperate attempts made by Tejashwi give the sense that the RJD leader is only concerned about his bungalow and has no interest in the welfare of people he represents.
