Looks like the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to romp home in the 2019 General elections. As per confirmed sources, cine star Madhuri Dixit Nene, who was visited by BJP President, Shri Amit Shah, under his ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ campaign, is likely to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
According to the state cadre of Maharashtra BJP, efforts have been made to convince the famous actress to join the party, and contest from the Pune constituency for the 2019 elections. A BJP leader said, “The party is seriously considering giving candidature to Madhuri Dixit in the 2019 general elections. We think the Pune Lok Sabha constituency will be better for her.”
“The party is in the process of finalising the list of probables for several Lok Sabha seats and Dixit’s name has been shortlisted for the Pune Lok Sabha constituency…she is being seriously considered for it”, the leader added.
As of now, the Pune constituency is being held by Anil Shirole, who had surprised one and all with his mammoth victory in 2014, when he defeated the Congress candidate by a huge margin of more than three lakh votes.
Confirming the plans to field Madhuri Dixit from Pune, a senior BJP functionary, whose name has not been revealed, said, “Such tactics were implemented by Narendra Modi in Gujarat when he became the chief minister for the first time. He changed all the candidates in local bodies election and the party reaped benefits of that decision.”
The leader went on to add, “As fresh faces were introduced, there was nothing to criticise them with. It left the opposition shocked and the BJP won maximum seats and retained power.”
As of now, the final decision lies with the actress, who is likely to bring the much-needed star attraction to give an additional advantage to BJP in the elections. Madhuri Dixit needs no formal introduction. The cine star, who has mesmerized the audience with both her acting as well as dancing skills in movies like ‘Tezaab’, ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Anjaam’, ‘Pukar’, ‘Devdas’ etc., has been anointed as the ‘Dancing Queen’ of Bollywood.
Besides, this is not the first time that someone from the film fraternity will represent the BJP in the Parliament. While veteran actors like Vinod Khanna, Dharmendra, and Shatrughan Sinha have already represented the party in the highest offices of the Indian government, actors like Paresh Rawal, Kirron Kher, Hema Malini etc. are representing the party in the Lok Sabha as of now. Even actors like Ajay Devgn, Sunny Deol etc. have campaigned for the party as and when possible.
Interestingly, people like Manoj Joshi, Manoj Tiwari and Dilip Joshi, famous for his role of Jethalal Gada in ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, have campaigned and represented BJP at various levels of the Indian polity as well, from party based leadership to local governments. Reports have also come that Mohanlal, who had recently PM Modi on the occasion of Janmashtami, is interested in joining BJP and plans to contest elections against Shashi Tharoor.
As such, if Madhuri Dixit confirms the news and contests elections in 2019, it will be an added benefit to the party, whose popularity is growing in the country by leaps and bounds. We hope that she takes the right decision in due time.
