Remember the dubious campaign of ‘Smash Brahminical Patriarchy’? Stung by the new-found courage of the netizens of social media, the left-liberals took it upon themselves to ‘clean up the mess’. Through their hypocritical campaign, they attempted to influence the heads of various social media organizations in order to dance to their tunes.
One such campaign was the one mentioned above, where scores of left-liberal journalists and social media figures, including the Twitter India head of operations, Mahima Kaul, met together to deal with the ‘menace of Brahminical patriarchy’. To make matters worse, the left-liberals also included Jack Dorsey, Twitter CEO, who was on a visit to India, and made him hold a placard of ‘Smash Brahminical Patriarchy’.
Recently we hosted a closed door discussion with a group of women journalists and change makers from India to better understand their experience using Twitter. One of the participants, a Dalit activist, shared her personal experiences and gifted a poster to Jack. https://t.co/96gd3XmFgK

This campaign, however, backfired, as the tweet took the entire nation by storm. From ex-director of Infosys, Mohandas Pai, to even some of the ministers of the Central government, everyone went hammer and tongs after the Twitter CEO. As a result, the Twitter India cell had to issue a clarification, and Jack Dorsey was forced to apologize.
However, in a recent development, it looks like it wasn’t a genuine error, but an example of how hypocrite the likes of Jack Dorsey are. A news snippet published about him caught everyone by surprise. According to this snippet, the Twitter CEO sent his beard shavings to a popular Amercian singer cum rapper cum lyricist, Azealia Banks, in order to make an amulet out of it that would protect him against the onslaught of ISIS.
Yes, our New York University alumnus, and the CEO of Twitter, Mr. Jack Dorsey thinks that an amulet will protect him against the dreaded ISIS instead of opting for some Krav Maga [Israeli technique of self-defense] classes. Imagine the reactions had such a step been taken by someone like Narayana Murthy or Mukesh Ambani.
Interestingly, this revelation also compels us to think if Jack Dorsey really practices what he preaches. When he visited India, he was extremely vocal about the need to curb the spread of fraudulent information and fake news on social media, apart from fighting the superstitions. To our surprise, left-liberal journalist Shekhar Gupta echoed our sentiments, when he castigated the Twitter CEO for his regressive amulet superstitions, as shown below in the following tweet :
And this genius would fight orthodoxy/patriarchy/superstition around the world, esp India. Pity we no longer have Chandraswami.. https://t.co/hMHXSlY1dT

Incidentally, neither this is the first time that a social media head has been accused of such shameless hypocrisy. Only recently, the son of Israeli Prime Minister and war hero Benjamin Netanyahu had his Facebook account blocked, just because he happened to castigate the Islamic community for supporting such brutal attacks on innocent civilians.
Moreover, the shadow banning and unnecessary hounding of many right-wing journalists, celebrities and opinion makers in India itself by both FB and Twitter are not hidden from anyone. As such, when Shekhar Gupta himself criticizes Jack Dorsey for his hypocrisy, we know that nothing lasts forever, and things can change for better as well. We hope that Shekhar Gupta continues to expose such hypocrites and continue posting rational tweets.
