PC: The News Minute

According to the reports, a 16-years-old girl has been raped in Kannur city of Kerala.  The case hit a new depth of insanity when a DYFI (a Youth wing of CPI (M)) leader Nikhil Mohan accused in the case, marched, demanding justice for her.

The whole thing was set up using a fake Facebook account, identified as Anjana. However, police suspected the involvement of an organized racket. The case has been registered under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) act.

The incident took place in a lodge at Parassinikkadavu in Kannur last month. Later, a case was reported in the nearby police station and 13 people have been arrested since then. According to the complainant, the gang took her to the lodge in the 2nd week of November. They took her photographs in inappropriate positions and after a few days started blackmailing her, threatening to circulate her pictures and then raped her. The gang also blackmailed her brother for money.

Meanwhile, the Communist Govt. under Pinarayi Vijayan has kept denying the allegations of an ineffective probe. The most heinous part of the whole incident is that the CPI (M) leader Nikhil Mohan, who was also an accused in the case (arrested later), was leading a rally, demanding the arrest of the lodge owner.

This is not the first time when Kerala government has gone soft on left liberals. We are hearing a lot about the failed law and order situation in the state, regular killings of RSS/BJP members and Hindus. This is not something new, to understand the current persisting situation; we should take a look back at the history of communism in the state.

The Communist ideology is such that no dissent is given space when they are in power. They see RSS as a threat as it is growing in the state and has a pan-India base. A few months back there was a mass protest in National Institute of Fashion Technology of Kannur, the hometown of CM Pinarayi Vijayan, regarding physical and sexual abuses by localities in the area. There were reports saying that they were backed by the local CPI (M) government.

One can imagine the terror in people by this tweet saying: “Protest erupts at #Kannur Home Town of Kerala CM @vijayanpinarayi Students of #NIFT allege that they were assaulted by a group of natives. Kannur which is infamous for CPIM’s brutality once again came into discussion. @BJP4India @BJP4Keralam”

But the more shocking fact is the negligence of national media towards the situation in Kerala. The so-called mainstream media houses that ‘burn the midnight oil’ to sensationalize issues like the Dadri incident or Rohit Vemula are refraining from debating or even reporting the matter.
