In the news coming from the valley, the Border Security Force (BSF) that guards India’s international border with Pakistan has “surgically targeted” the Pakistani posts in a retaliatory firing.

BSF Director General Rajni Kant Mishra while providing information to the media said that the forces have “surgically targeted” the Pakistani posts in response to the unprovoked firing that was done by the Pakistani forces. On being asked, whether there have been changes in the demography of the area in the western sector near Jaisalmer, Mishra said that there isn’t any such thing for a matter of concern.

He further added that the security forces “routinely” carry out ground analysis in order to check whether there are altercations in the demographics in the border area. Talking about the unprovoked firing by Pakistan, Mishra responded that the “misadventure” that the Pakistani Army was on, had been neutralized as the forces carried out “comprehensive retaliation plan”.

He further said, “BSF responded in a targeted manner as a result of which the Pakistani Rangers forces were pinned down.” It seems as if the Pakistani troops are not learning from their mistake. Every time they repeat the same mistake in order to only suffer heavy losses and nothing else. Their attempts every time gets the same answer and still, there is no stopping to it. Pakistan which is going through huge economic crisis should focus more on strengthening its economy rather than embarking on such futile adventurism.

For decades Pakistan has been trying to create a hostile situation in the border areas. The Pakistan government must understand that these cross-border ceasefire violations will lead to nothing but cause a huge loss in form of lives and further will take a toll on their already shambled economy.

This unproved firing from the Pakistani army comes at a time when both the countries have laid the foundation stone of the Dera Baba Nanak-Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. On one hand, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan talks about having a peaceful relationship with India and claims the Kartarpur Sahib corridor to act as ‘messenger of peace’. But, on the other hand, Pakistan army leaves no chance of committing heinous attempts to create chaos and ruckus in this side of the border.

Just a month ago,  the Indian Army had reportedly targeted the Pakistani military administrative headquarters across the Line of Control (LoC) in PoK. This was done in retaliation to Pakistani shelling in Poonch and Jhallas. According to sources, the Indian Army retaliated in the Khuiratta and Samani areas of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) but Pakistan does not seem to have learnt its lesson.

The Pakistani Army had resorted to shelling on India’s brigade headquarters and other Army installations in Poonch on October 23. The Pakistani Army targeted Indian Army’s brigade headquarters with a 105/106 mm shells. One of the shells also landed in a store shelter setting it to fire.

In a befitting reply, the Indian Army bombarded the Pakistani administrative headquarters. The Indian officials stated, “In response to Pakistani army’s firing of stray shells on Poonch and Jhallas on October 23, 2018, the Indian Army has sent a strong signal by firing at Pakistani army administrative headquarters… and the residents of border villages also reported that they could see smoke emanating”.

Despite requesting a ceasefire earlier this year, Pakistan still resorts to cowardly attacks across the LoC which the Indian forces have befittingly responded to. This should be a signal for Pakistan to behave before it is too late.
