BJP general secretary K Surendran jailed by the communist government for entering Sabarimala

Surendran Jailed Sabarimala

The Communist government in Kerala has jailed BJP General secretary K Surendran in Kottarakara sub-jail. He was manhandled by police of the state and was denied basic facilities. He was jailed for defying police orders regarding late entry at the Sabarimala Temple Complex.  “The police have charged me under non-bailable sections. I am no criminal, nor do I have any cases against me. They did not let me sleep, nor was I allowed water or to take my medicines. The police even roughed up my ‘Irumudi kettu’ (a mandatory holy kit to be taken to the temple),” said Surendran to media before jailed by the police.

The Sabarimala Temple Complex closes at 10 pm but as per the new rules the state government bars the entry of devotees after 7 pm. BJP State president, S Sreedharan Pillai said that there is ‘Jungle Raj’ in the state and the party and supporters will block the National Highways in protest of the arrest of Surendran.  The supporters of  Surendran silently protested outside Kerala government secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram but the communist regime used Water cannons to disperse the protesters.

A widespread popular protest is in action by the supporters of Surendran in state at locations MC Road at Kottarakara, Vytilla in Kochi, numerous locations in Kozhikode, including Thamarassery, Balussery and Vadakara, Kottayam, Attingal, the overbridge near East Fort in Thiruvananthapuram, Venjaramoodu, Kattakad and Palakkad. The protesters also blocked National Highways in Kochi, Kottayam and Palakkad. The Kerala government opened the temple complex for the third time since apex court verdict on September 28 to allow menstrual age women entry to the temple complex.

The Communist government in Kerala is known for supporting ‘atheist’ cause. The majority of the top functionaries of government and the party cadre are avowed atheists. The atheist government wants to destroy age old customs of Sabarimala temple complex which is unique in many ways. The fact that they jailed Surendran for entering Sabarimala is a testimony to the very fact. The self-proclaimed messiahs of diversity want homogeneity in rules and regulations of independent entities like temples and other monuments of faith. The combined efforts of Supreme Court and the Communist government to teach people ‘what to do’ and ‘what not to do’ is akin to the religious sermons in Quran regarding ‘Halal’ and ‘Haram’. This Communist government does not respect the diverse nature of Hinduism and want to make society homogeneous. The communist ideology of ‘equality’ does not respect individual and organizational liberty and wants to make society homogeneous against the wishes of the locals. Hindu Civilization is known for being diverse and complex, and against any kind of homogeneity.

The Supreme Court has accepted a review petition of its earlier judgment but the state government is in a hurry to implement the court’s verdict. This is the reason behind a third successful attempt to open the temple complex in less than two month period. Previously, the state government had opened the temple two times for the devotees and both times it had to backtrack due to law and order problems near the temple complex. S Sreedharan Pillai has accused that the government is in hurry to implement the apex court’s verdict and the saffron party will keep supporting the devotees in their cause, “BJP workers will continue to join the devotees’ protest if any woman in the menstrual age group tries to enter the temple. The devotees have so far succeeded in preventing such women from breaking the custom,” said Pillai.

The atheist government’s unabashed attempt at destroying the basic tenants of Hinduism will be opposed by protesters and Surendran was doing the same. But the Communists are using state apparatus to implement their personal vendetta against Hinduism, as they did previously in other states of India and many other countries.
