Shehla Rashid, Twitter

Shehla Rashid, the self proclaimed proponent of free speech seems to have no answer to the questions that were being raised by many, about the date of funds collected for Kathua gang rape and murder victim’s family and the plight of the victim family. Only this can explain why Shehla Rashid who is a classic practitioner of ‘shoot and scoot’ politics has deactivated her Twitter handle.

It is pertinent to mention here that she was quite vocal on her Twitter handle in mocking the Hindu religion, supporting urban naxals and seditionist propaganda. Being one of the harbingers of the ‘Tukde Tukde gang’, she was vociferous in her anti-India propaganda on the Social Media platform and it comes as a surprise that she has suddenly deactivated it. Therefore, one cannot help but look into how the family of Kathua’s victim had to face hardships despite several “activists” collecting funds in the garb of helping them.

As per reports, the family of the Kathua rape victim had to sell off their livestock to pay expenses of travelling from Kargil, 530 km down to Pathankot, where a trial court is hearing the matter. The father of the victim said, “I had to attend court three to four times. Each time I had to travel, I sold some of my sheep and goat to pay for the expenses.” Moreover, the mother of the victim of the heinous crime that shook the nation said, “The so-called social activists and politicians, who were in the forefront of the campaign seeking justice, brazenly exploited the brutality committed on my daughter and abandoned us after achieving petty personal goals.” She further added, “Except exploiting the incident for their personal goals, the so-called activists have done nothing to ensure justice to my daughter. We want exemplary punishment for those who committed the heinous crime.” This goes on to show the apathy of self acclaimed activists and social justice warriors who exploited the family’s hardships and emotions for petty political and financial goals. They collected money on the pretext of helping the victim’s family but in reality, the family was left to fend for itself. Even the grandfather of the victim said, “We have information that lakhs of rupees were collected from different parts of the world by exploiting the incident by some people.” He further added, “Those who were in the forefront to ensure justice are now even hesitating to attend our phone calls.”

It must be noted here that Shehla Rashid was one of those who led the process of collecting funds. She failed to offer any cogent explanation about this. She did claim that she met personally met the parents of the victim after the funds were transferred and made sure that they had no complaints. However, she failed to post any proof of transfer of money and kept on ranting against those who were questioning her. For obvious reasons, she had to face several questions about this sensitive issue. However, it seems that Rashid who belongs to the tribe that believes that it has the right to question anyone on the face of this planet, got annoyed when she was confronted by others.

However, this is not the only controversy that might have forced her to deactivate her Twitter handle. Her controversial and illogical answer, about the caste to which she would belong if she converted to Hinduism, to which she claimed that her ancestors converted because they were ‘Shudra’. Her lie was then refuted on twitter, as her full name is Shehla Rashid Shora, ‘shora’ being a hindu baniya surname. Her public lie about her original caste only added to her woes as she was already unable to give a reasonable explanation about the fate of funds that had been collected for helping the family of Kathua victim.
