In a major survey conducted by the Dailyhunt, PM Modi has yet again emerged as the most popular leader across India leaving the opposition leaders far behind. He seems to be unmatchable in terms of popularity and is far ahead of opponents. The findings of the survey are encouraging for BJP’s prospect in the upcoming elections. The survey shows that people of the nation are firmly behind PM Modi and repose faith in his leadership.

It was one of the largest and most comprehensive digital political survey in India. 63 per cent of the respondents expressed more or similar levels of trust in Narendra Modi as they showed in 2014. The respondents showed their satisfaction in PM Modi’s leadership in the last four years. BJP had come at the helm of affairs in 2014 on account of a massive ‘Modi wave” and this survey suggests that PM’s support base is still intact.

The survey was conducted across India’s length and breadth. It included respondents not only from the metros but also from tier II and tier III Indian towns and cities.  Therefore, its results are comprehensive and highly reliable. The survey witnessed active participation of the ‘first time’ registered voters in India. The fact of the matter is that it was not a casual study but a massive research-oriented survey with a staggering survey size of over 54 lakh respondents from India and abroad. This shows that PM Modi is a popular choice among the masses in the nation. His popularity is not confined to any particular region or section of voters but goes beyond boundaries.

Findings of the survey also show that more than 50 per cent of the respondents are in favour of a second term to Narendra Modi. Interestingly, the states like Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan which are poised to go into assembly elections this year, are keeping faith in PM Modi’s leadership. As far as uprooting corruption is concerned, 60 per cent of the respondents have reposed their faith in PM Modi. PM Modi has left his opponents far behind in fighting corruption with Delhi CM Kejriwal at a distant second getting only 15.1 per cent respondents in favour. Coming to the issue of tackling a national crisis, 62 per cent of the respondents have chosen Prime Minister Modi. He is followed by Rahul Gandhi who was voted by  only 17 per cent of the respondents.

The rise PM Modi’s popularity is bound to send a warning for the opposition. Even in the last year of his tenure, Prime Minister Modi’s popularity is showing no signs of waning down. In fact, he only has risen in stature with an overwhelming majority pleased with his leadership and reposing trust in him. PM Modi is the preferred leader and the most popular choice across the nation. In fact, opposition leaders do not come even close to him in terms of popularity. The mammoth difference in popularity between Prime Minister Modi and opposition leaders clearly shows the political direction that the country is going to take.

This is not for the first time that PM Modi has emerged as the most popular choice in a political survey. In fact, several political surveys have unambiguously shown that there is no match for PM Modi’s popularity. As per the survey conducted by Prashant Kishor-helmed group, Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) in September and ‘Mood of the Nation’ survey in August, PM Modi appeared to be very popular among the masses. With this, it seems that there is no stopping for the incumbent government and it is bound to retain power after the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
