Former notorious president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) and leader of the All India Students Federation (AISF), JNU unit, Kanhaiya Kumar is in news again and again it is for all the wrong reasons. On Monday, Kanhaiya and his supporters were booked on charges of assaulting a junior doctor and a security guard and snatching the doctor’s phone at AIIMS, Patna. According to an Indian Express report, the association of AIIMS doctors has filed an FIR against Kanhaiya Kumar and his supporters at Phulwarisharif police station in western Patna.

Phulwarisharif SHO, Mohd Qaiser Alam in whose station the FIR was filed, said, “The doctors’ association said in its complaint that Kanhaiya, along with about 100 others, had visited the hospital Sunday night to meet an old associate admitted there.” He further added, “The complainants have alleged that they beat up an intern on duty and also thrashed a security guard who came to intervene.” The doctors’ association also alleged that Kanhaiya Kumar and his supporters snatched a doctor’s mobile phone after beating him up. The doctors’ association has threatened to go on an indefinite hunger strike if proper action is not taken against the perpetrators.

According to reports, Kanhaiya Kumar and his supporters had gone to AIIMS on Sunday evening to visit AISF state Secretary Sushil Kumar, who is currently undergoing treatment in AIIMS. The guard did not allow Kanhaiya’s supporters who were around 80 to 100 in number, to enter the patient’s ward, as such large number of people getting in at once could cause trouble for the other patients. But his supporters were hell bent on entering the ward to meet Sushil Kumar. All this led to an altercation between the hospital administration and Kanhaiya who was with his supporters. They not only threatened the hospital staff but also misbehaved with doctors and nurses. The doctors are rightfully very angry with the criminal behavior of Kanhaiya Kumar and his supporters, and are demanding justice.

Bihar Health Minister, Mangal Pandey,  was aware of the FIR filed against the former student leader and the disturbance caused in AIIMS, he said, “I have talked to Patna AIIMS Director P K Singh and asked him to apprise me of the entire incident. We will take a call on what administrative action can be taken.” He also added, “This is not JNU where you can do anything and get away with it.”

This unruly behavior of Kanhaiya Kumar and his supporters reveals their mentality. This is just a glimpse of what would follow if their leader comes to power. Controversial JNU student, Kanhaiya Kumar is all set to contest Lok Sabha polls from the Begusarai seat of Bihar as CPI [M]’s candidate, with RJD’s backing. Some ‘popular’ celebrities are also supporting and backing him. As reported by the English daily, Deccan Herald, Kanhaiya Kumar will be backed by popular lyricist Javed Akhtar and his illustrious wife, actress Shabana Azmi for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls of 2019. According to the Communist Party of India, the duo has volunteered to campaign for Kanhaiya’s electoral campaigns, which shall officially start with a massive rally in Bihar titled ‘BJP harao, Desh Bachao’ in an attempt to display the power of ‘Mahagathbandhan’, for which prominent leaders from various opposition parties, including the ‘darling of the liberal masses’, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, have been invited as well.

Supporting a rabble-rouser, uncivilized and rowdy person like Kanhaiya shows the mentality of liberal elite. Kanhaiya Kumar is a habitual offender. Although this is the first time when an FIR has been filed against him for rowdiness outside the JNU campus, he had earlier misbehaved with a girl student inside JNU campus and threatened her as well. The incident happened in June 2015, when Kanhaiya Kumar was not the president of JNUSU. A girl had asked him not to urinate in the open inside the campus, in his reply, Kanhaiya Kumar misbehaved with her, called her a psychopath and had also threatened her with dire consequences. Following a complaint by her, the University administration held an inquiry which found Kanhaiya guilty. The university order said, “Kanhaiya is fined Rs 3,000 and also warned to be careful and not get involved in any such incidents in future. Otherwise, strict disciplinary action will be taken against him.” However after the JNU row, the cabal made a celebrity out of Kanhaiya Kumar. Which shows the lack of leadership and a popular face in the left due to which they seem to be making heroes out of villains, as they have run out of real leaders. This incident at AIIMS, Patna is just a trailer for the future, if leaders like Kanhaiya Kumar are elected then this is what the future holds for the people of Bihar. The FIR needs to be worked on immediately and the guilty needs to be punished for causing disturbance at a government hospital which would have obstructed treatment being administered to the other patients in the hospital.
