In a fresh twist to the 2019 polls, Kanhaiya Kumar has got new backers for his ambitious electoral plans. According to confirmed sources, as reported by the English daily newspaper Deccan Herald, Kanhaiya Kumar will be backed by popular lyricist Javed Akhtar and his illustrious wife, actress Shabana Azmi in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls of 2019.
According to the Communist Party of India, the duo has volunteered to campaign for Kanhaiya’s electoral campaigns, which shall officially start with a massive rally in Bihar titled ‘BJP harao, Desh Bachao’ in an attempt to display the power of ‘Mahagathbandhan’, for which prominent leaders from various opposition parties, including the ‘darling of the liberal masses’ and Congress President Rahul Gandhi, have been invited as well.
Kanhaiya Kumar will be campaigning from Begusarai in Bihar as CPI [M]’s candidate , which is not only the leader’s birthplace but also regarded by the left liberals as ‘India’s Leningrad’, where the communists allegedly are still a force to reckon with. Though this area is administered by MP Bhola Singh, who won the previous polls as a BJP candidate, the ruling party might switch gears if they want to maintain this seat without a fuss.
To quote CPI state secretary Satya Narayana Singh and national secretary K Narayana, “Rebel BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha, too, has said that if the CPI would invite him, he would like to canvass for the firebrand student leader (Kanhaiya………..
We have invited Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, Sharad Yadav and former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi for the ‘Defeat BJP, Save Country’ rally on October 25……..” Apart from Shabana and Javed Akhtar, actor-turned-activist from South Prakash Raj may also campaign for Kanhaiya.
To be truthful, these turn of events have proved one thing clearly well: The Left is now running out of options and is clearly looking for anything, anything that would help them to maintain their ‘so called clout’ over national politics.
The tactics employed by CPI [M] here also prove that despite their tall claims of fighting ‘the ideological battle with fair means’, the Left is not hesitating to resort to the same ‘celebrity campaigning’ that they accuse their opponents for. If we need to include the ‘glitz and glamor of Bollywood’ for winning elections, what is the need to maintain a ‘high moral ground’ then? Has the ‘ideological superiority’ taken a backseat dear communists?
This tactic has also exposed the ideological preferences of Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, who claim to be extremely neutral and pro democratic. If one is ready to volunteer for a leader who advocates sedition, ‘breaking India’ or even backing dreaded Urban Naxals, they can be anything but neutral.
Yet, if anybody even dares to challenge their outdated ideals, it is that person who is painted as ‘tyrant’ and ‘intolerant’ by these same people [Need we remind you of how Javed Akhtar mocked the sportspersons who attacked Gurmehar Kaur for her hypocrisy?] It is upto the masses of Begusarai if they want to choose such opportunists or elect a candidate who can actually change their constituency for the better.
