In a shocking news report, it has come to light that the wife of a Uttar Pradesh Congress working committee (CWC) has accused her husband of forcing her to sleep with other party members so that he could gain brownie points within the party. The CWC member has been identified as Shan Mohammed. It has been alleged that he used to bring the other Congress leaders to his home and then force his wife to sleep with them. When his wife refused to do so, he would beat her up and at times even took up to electrocution.
The case came to light when the victim and her mother filed an FIR against the victim’s husband. The wife of the Congress leader has also demanded police protection fearing for her life. In an interview, she revealed that the gruesome act was being carried out for the past 4 years. It has been reported that the police has registered the case and investigations are going on in the matter. Thus far, neither any arrest has been made nor any police protection has been provided to the victim.
This raises certain pertinent and serious questions about the Congress. It is not only about a CWC member using his wife as a commodity but a number of Congress leaders harassing her. As stated by the victim, this cruelty is being meted out to her for the last four years and it is not only Shan Mohammed who is involved in this heinous crime but every Congress leader with whom she was forced to sleep are involved in this gruesome crime. As of now, it is only the husband whose name has come to light but with passage of time several other members who were involved in this act could come up.
This also raises questions and doubts about the competence of the Congress leadership. It seems that the top Congress leadership is not competent enough to control its workers and functionaries. This also raises serious questions about the intent of Rahul Gandhi. The Congress president has been time and again claiming that he wants to empower the women of the country. He even wrote a letter to prime minister Modi demanding reservation for women in parliament. One cannot help but ask what kind of women empowerment is this. And if Rahul Gandhi cannot protect the wives of Congress leaders from their husbands how will he empower the women of India. It seems that he is least bothered about the welfare of womankind and his constant blabbering about women empowerment is a political gimmick. There are no reports of the Congress leadership taking any action against the accused CWC member. This only corroborates that the top Congress leadership is not at all bothered about the protection and welfare of women.
One hopes that this matter is investigated expeditiously by the police. Given that the shocking case involves not only Shan Mohammed but supposedly a number of other leaders with whom the victim was forced to sleep, the police should also book other leaders whose names have not come to light till now.
