The Doctor who volunteered during Kerala floods trolled by communists

Kerala is still reeling from the effects of the most devastating floods the state has ever seen. The rising waters of the rivers coupled with the heavy rainfall in the monsoon season have wreaked havoc almost all over the state. All 14 districts of the state were put on red alert as the floods claimed more than 500 lives and the death toll is still rising owing to diseases breaking out. The Indian Army and Navy have performed exceptionally well by providing rescue and relief work in the state around the clock. The Kerala Government headed by CM Pinarayi Vijayan set up a donation website for flood victims, which till 30th of August 2018 was able to collect Rs 1,031 crore from the people, corporate houses and celebrities in India. All of India chipped in to do their bit to help Kerala. Thousands of people have volunteered to improve the situations in Kerala, Amit Thadani is one of them. A surgeon who had jumped in the wagon to help citizens of Kerala, hailing from Mumbai, Maharashtra, he was seeking no monetary benefits from the devastated state. It is therefore surprising that the people of Kerala chose to mock and ridicule him for his observations in the state.

Amit Thadani had come to Kerala in order to help the people through medical help; his team consisted of doctors and medical staff which were scheduled to provide medical help to the people of the state. From vaccinations, and treatment of fungal and viral infections to helping people affected by cholera and diarrhoea, Amit Thadani and his team did everything to help the people.

His Twitter timeline displays the day by day activities through which Amit Thadani and his team helped the citizens. His only fault was that he shared a photo of the menu on display at ‘Indian Coffee House’ which is located in Thrissur, hardly 100 metres away from the famed Padmanabhaswamy temple. The items on offer included dishes made of beef, a thing which is sacred for the crores of Hindus. Amit Thadani was surprised as to how the sale of beef was allowed so close to a well known and historical Hindu temple, his tweet with the photo shows his surprise.

Menu of Indian Coffee House, just about 100m from Padmanabhaswamy temple entrance at Trivandrum. How is beef sale allowed so close to such a major shrine? pic.twitter.com/Nvxj0Mmec2

— Amit Thadhani (@amitsurg) August 29, 2018

What followed this tweet was a barrage of ridicule and threats, terming him a ‘cow belter’, blaming him for spreading ‘communalism’ and ‘religious bigotry’. People from the state did not even shy away from terming him a ‘bigoted North Indian’ who should have rather visited a veg restaurant. It took no time for some social media trolls to turn this doctor into a ‘cow belt retard’ who wanted to ‘impose his lynchistan behaviour in other parts of the India’. Terming the whole of North Indians as ‘steppe nomads+ hybrids of Mongols an invading forces’ too was done under the garb of being secular, as if the whole definition of being secular revolves around eating beef.

Cause beef is tasty . Pray and go back to your cowbelt. https://t.co/PIfpSQ1it5

— Kavi 🍉 (@blurt2kc) September 2, 2018

Highly tragic that a man who has taken an oath to "do no harm" is here promoting comunalism and religious bigotry.

Dear doctor, you are a man of science. And we doctors are expected to rise above such petty comments and politics. #BeBetter https://t.co/rrrYmcJV5Z

Cow belt retard – wants to impose his lynchistan behavior in other parts of india. Steppe nomads + hybrids of mongols & invading forces – is a curse to India. https://t.co/dFSMKrXxTC

The left leaning communist devotees from Kerala left no stone turned in branding Amit Thadani as a communal force who had come to divide Kerala. These idiots forgot that Kerala has been helped just a week back by the whole of India, the Army and Navy personnel who rescued them were from North and South of India. Communists and left leaning minds find it difficult to absorb the surprise shown by Amit Thadani at finding beef being sold in a restaurant which is close to the entrance of Padmanabhaswamy temple. A distraught Amit took to Twitter again to express what he felt about the whole incident of online trolling, he chose to respond to these bigots who brand themselves as seculars.

For all you bigots out there sending me abuses, beef pics and defecating on my TL on Twitter and Facebook. pic.twitter.com/SJZbtjPzch

— Amit Thadhani (@amitsurg) September 2, 2018

His response and the whole incident teaches that bigots come in all shapes and sizes and are amply found in all parts of the world, the hate he received even after doing charitable work is proof that the bigots cannot be pacified. The so called seculars need to be ashamed for their conduct while the rest of Kerala and India would choose to side with Amit Thadani and his views.
