In another shameful incident within the JNU campus, the leftist goons who control and dominate the university campus in a major way tried blocking chief ministers of three north-east states- Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, from entering the university campus. The chief ministers of these three states had been invited by the ABVP for a post-dinner public meeting at JNU. Even before they had arrived for the meeting, there were apprehensions that the leftist hooligans might try to disrupt the meeting by shouting slogans, creating ruckus or even resorting to vandalism thereby hampering interaction with the chief ministers and curtailing the right to free speech and expression.

These apprehensions and fears came true. The leftist goons of JNU who feel that they have a right to control the management and administration of the university seemed deeply anguished about how ABVP conducted such a significant public meeting. A heavy crowd consisting of students had gathered to attend the public meeting and to listen to the chief ministers. Meanwhile, the leftists also managed to mobilise their goons in a desperate attempt to create ruckus and disrupt the public meeting. At the gate of the venue itself, the leftists had gathered in huge numbers and resorted to heavy sloganeering. The leftist goons kept on blocking the way, not allowing the north-east chief ministers to enter the venue. A huge crowd thronged the hostel and the leftist goons who were trying to barge in were stopped. Their desperate attempts to enter the JNU campus were foiled by a resolute ABVP.
The chief minister of Assam was the main target of the leftist goons. However, ABVP was upto the task and formed a human chain around him. Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal was escorted to the venue amidst open threats of violence. It is very much possible that the leftist goons were instructed by their political bosses to categorically target the Assam chief minister. NRC in Assam has proved to be a death blow for many as it has impinged upon the vote bank of several ’eminent’ politicians.
The chief ministers invited for the public interaction had to enter the venue under commando protection in the background of an adverse leftist crowd threatening to go wild. A police truck had to be deployed outside the JNU in order to keep the urban naxals and leftist hooligans in check. This speaks volumes of how communism is the very antithesis of free speech and how the urban naxals have been constantly keeping free speech to ransom within the JNU campus.
Apart from being a clear attack on free speech, this shameful attack by leftist hooligans also shows how the urban naxals within the JNU and elsewhere are blatantly prejudiced against the people of north-east and their chief ministers. It was because of this hatred against the north-east people and their political leaders that they left could attempt such a dastardly attack on the chief ministers invited for the public discussion. The ABVP deserves praise for foiling this cowardly attempt by the left to disrupt the public meeting by using violent methods that have become leftist modus operandi to bring down its opponents. The government should not take this lightly. It is shameful how three chief ministers had to face this inside a central university campus. The JNU administration should take immediate action and rusticate those who ran riot and threatened to disrupt the event. The government should book these hooligans under appropriate penal provisions and throw them behind the bars so that no one can indulge in such prejudiced and violent behaviour against north-east people and political leaders in the future.
