Self-proclaimed spiritual and social activist ‘Swami’ Agnivesh was yesterday assaulted by a mob while on a visit to Pakur district of Jharkhand. The entire cabal has come out blaming the BJP for this assault without any substantive proof. State BJP spokesperson P Shahdeo denied involvement of his party men in the incident. However, he added that such an outburst is not unlikely, given Agnivesh’s track record.

An assault on anyone is indeed condemnable, but it is important to look into Agnivesh’s track record as stated by Shahdeo. In fact, Agnivesh’s track record is rife with controversies and he has often made headlines for all the wrong reasons. In fact, he epitomises the most shameless form of pseudo-secularism and fake socialism in the country. In the guise of secularism and social activism, Agnivesh speaks for and defends the most anti-social and anti-national of elements. He was first exposed during Anna Hazare’s anti graft movement in 2011. Initially a part of the movement, Agnivesh was later filmed in a video where he was discussing a plan to sabotage Anna’s movement with the then UPA minister Kapil Sibal.  In the video, Agnivesh could be heard advising the government not to make any further concessions to Anna Hazare who was then on a fast pushing for anti-corruption legislation. Swami Agnivesh is heard telling “Kapilji”: “Yeh to pagal ki tarah ho raha hai” (It’s like he’s turned mad”). Thereafter, he urges “Kapilji” not to cede ground and make no further concessions. It was clear that Agnivesh was Kapil’s man trying to sabotage a movement that had grabbed the imagination of the entire nation.

What happened in 2011 was only a sneak peek into Agnivesh’s infidelity, his insidious character has every now and then come into focus ever since. The self-proclaimed spiritual leader and social worker is not only secretly a Congressman but also a vocal supporter of Kashmiri separatists and Naxalites. In April 2015, Agnivesh had unabashedly extended support to separatist JKLF leader Yasin Malik in Jammu & Kashmir. Not only this, Agnivesh expressed his inherent prejudice against Hindus by supporting a 30-hour hunger strike against resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits who had been compelled to leave the valley by Jihadist elements after the 1989 carnage.

He has been even more vocal and shameless when it comes to defending naxalism and senior naxal leaders. In fact, Agnivesh had asked the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to hold “peace talks” with the naxals. He then crossed all limits by casting aspersions on the security agencies for killing senior Naxal leader, Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad and even labelled his encounter as a “fake encounter”. Agnivesh is the poster boy of pseudo-liberalism and used to actively vouch for separatism and naxalism even before the “Azadi” gang and “Bharat tere tukde honge” gang shot to limelight.

Agnivesh is not only a staunch anti-nationalist and a pro-corruption element masquerading as a social activist but also a typical anti-Hindu “secular”. He is the kind of spiritual guru who can give goosebumps to any Hindu-hating elite. In fact, he was even pulled by the Supreme Court for hurting Hindu sentiments in 2011. Agnivesh had then stated that the Amarnath Yatra was a “fraud in the name of religion”. The apex court took serious objection to these anti-Hindu remarks and Justice H.L. Dattu observed that “you (Swami Agnivesh) have achieved your purpose. Thereafter, you realised your sin and issued the clarification. First you say something which is widely published. Then you clarify. Does it absolve you of all the sins committed already? Public figures should be more sensitive to the sentiments of ordinary people. The sentiments of ordinary people can’t be taken for granted. They should weigh their words ten times before they speak.”

Agnivesh’s life journey will make any anti-nationalist and anti-Hindu proud. For several years, Agnivesh has been using the image of a Swami and at the same time giving effect to most ulterior, anti-nationalist and anti-Hindu of his motives. It is reported that he was a Congress MLA from Haryana having naxal and missionary links. He is in effect a fraud baba of the highest order. The sins of this anti-Hindu and anti-nationalist ‘swami’ are too grave to be forgiven easily.
