In a major development, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has persuaded Yoga Guru Ramdev on not shifting the  Patanjali food park worth thousands of crore proposed to be built in the State. After CM Yogi’s intervention, now Patanjali has decided not to shift its food park. Patanjali spokesperson SK Tijarawala said, “We (Patanjali) trust the assurance given by CM Yogi Adityanath. CM Yogi spoke to Acharya Balkrishna and Baba Ramdev and assured cooperation. We respect the commitment given by Yogiji. We will not let the important food park go out of UP.” With this Yogi has not just saved Food Park but also crores of investment and thousands of jobs.

Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali had planned to setup Rs 20 billion food park it UP’s Greater Noida. But the UP government remained unresponsive. The company, on Wednesday, had declared that it will shift the food park due to the disappointing attitude of UP government. Patanjali Ayurved Limited managing director and co-founder of Patanjali Yogpeeth, Acharya Balkrishna said, “The mega food park would’ve made the lives of farmers better. We had also asked for the permission from the Central Government. There is paperwork for which we requested the state government. But due to their disappointing attitude, it couldn’t be done.”

After the statement, UP CM Yogi spoke over phone to Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishan. After few hours of their talks, the company said it will not shift its proposed food park. CM Yogi also gave assurance to remove the hurdles and bottlenecks the project was witnessing. With this things became normal. And the projected is expected to gain momentum.

This unresponsive attitude towards such big projects is a sign of worrying. Although Government is new with fresh mindset but the bureaucracy is working with the same old mentality. The attitude of lower levels of government should be changed. CM Yogi should work towards changing this negative attitude. It’s very important because the development at fast speed would only happen if all the organs of the government work in tandem. After CM Yogi’s intervention, responsible authorities acted very fast which is a good sign but each and every time he cannot intervene and that’s why he should make bureaucracy and lower level of government accountable and responsive. In this age of digitization, the bureaucracy of UP is still plagued by the Red-Tapism. All the procedure required for setting up an industry should be made online. This will save time and it will also reduce corruption.

Direct involvement of the Chief Minister in attracting and retaining investments in the State is a good sign for UP. Chief Minister talking directly to the CEO and giving his personal assurance that things will be taken care of is something new in UP. Issues are now being solved without arrogance coming in the way. This is a remarkable change in the governance of UP and the way UP functions. He is making sure that UP is not left behind in the development and for that he is doing everything that is possible.
