Bharatiya Janata Party had withdrawn support from the People’s Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir, which led to Mehbooba Mufti’s resignation and Governor’s rule was imposed in the state. Governor N.N. Vohra has assigned excellent people to act as advisers. Supercop K Vijay Kumar has taken charge in the Kashmir valley.  The clampdown on the terrorist factions operating in the state has already started and therefore the process of cleansing of the valley has begun. The head of Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) Dawood Ahmad Sofi was neutralised by the armed forces on 22nd June. ISJK and its members might not be directly linked to the Islamic State (IS) but they are influenced by the IS propaganda of creating a Islamic homeland in the Kashmir valley. Dawood Ahmad Sofi and other members of the ISJK were planning an attack on the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. This operation was carried out by the elite National Security Guard (NSG) commandos and it marked their debut in the Kashmir valley. This is a major blow to the radical elements operating in the valley and a major success considering the importance of Amarnath Yatra and the safety of the pilgrims. The central government’s plan seems to be working.

Director General of Police S P Vaid opened up about the happenings of the takedown of the terrorists he informed that along with the four terrorists who were neutralised, the house owner and a policeman, Ashiq Hussain, were also killed. The terrorists had been holed up in the house where they were surrounded and finally taken down. The house is located in the Srigufwara village which lies on the route of the Amarnath Shrine. Alongwith weapons and ammunitions some more incriminating evidences were also recovered from the encounter site. The operation was based on intelligence received from reliable sources. Quick action was needed to eliminate threats to the Amarnath Yatra which is to begin on June 28th this year.

The commendable work done by the NSG commandos in eliminating threats to the Amarnath Yatra is indeed praiseworthy. The Central government had deployed them in the valley to ensure swift and targeted crackdowns on the terrorists in the valley and they have achieved excellent results in their very first task. Central government’s decision to withdraw from the J&K government and bring in Governor’s rule is bearing fruit. This is exactly why the BJP needed to pull out of the coalition in J&K, Mehbooba Mufti and her careless attitude towards the terrorists and separatists in the valley had boosted their morale. Governor’s rule has given BJP the chance to eliminate threats in the valley and also show that they are committed to the safety of Indian citizens. The armed personnel operating in the valley have been given the authority to operate in the valley to ensure maximum safety for the residents. Their hands are no longer tied down by the J&K government headed by Mehbooba Mufti. National interests have taken precedence over appeasement and NSG and other armed forces can now go ahead with securing the valley without fear of repercussions from the state government. Kudos to the NSG and other security forces who have eliminated a threat to Amarnath Yatra and have shown real secularism by eliminating Islamic Jihadi elements. Kashmir is in safe hands and those terrorists who think otherwise will soon be sent to where they belong.
