It has been 24 hours since the BJP has pulled out of four years of unlikely alliance with the Mehbooba Mufti’s People’s Democratic Party of Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP’s decision to withdraw its support and Mehbooba Mufti’s resignation has paved the way for the Governor’s rule. The Governor’s rule means from the next month Central government will have full control over the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It also means that the army will have absolutely free hand in dealing with insurgency in the state and we are likely to see a terrorist bloodbath in the valley in the coming days. A glimpse of this has already been seen yesterday. Within few hours of political crisis, Indian Army in coordination with CRPF and J&K police killed three Jaish terrorists and this time no stone- pelter dared to block the terror operation. According to media report, two of the terrorist could be Pakistani. This is a good start, to begin with for what could be long scoring inning. This is just a soft launch and a trailer of what’s going to come in the next six months. Indian Army would be in full form.

One of the main contention between the BJP and the PDP was Mehbooba Mufti’s soft approach towards the stone pelters. In February 2018, Mehbooba Mufti approved the withdrawal of stone-pelting cases against 9,730 people. Within hours after withdrawing support, the BJP wrote to the J&K Governor, NN Vohra, asking the governor to reopen the cases withdrawn by Mehbooba Mufti against the stone-pelters. A welcome move, and a much-needed step. Now no more amnesty will be given to the stone pelters. This shows that nobody will be left out, each and every anti-social and anti-India element of Kashmir will be taught a good lesson. Earlier, Mehbooba Mufti by supporting the stone-pelters was developing her vote-bank. Her flirt with radical elements, stone-pelters and separatists are the reasons behind BJP’s decision to take their support back.

A senior bureaucrat, BVR Subrahmanyam has been appointed as the advisor of Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Subrahmanyam, considered an expert in internal security matters, has served as private secretary to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during 2004-2008. He worked with the World Bank during June 2008 and September 2011 before joining again the Manmohan Singh-led PMO in March 2012. He has also worked very closely with Prime Minister Modi. He was part of PMO till March 2015 and after that, he was transferred to his cadre state Chhattisgarh and there he worked as Additional Chief Secretary in Chhattisgarh.

This means that top leadership in Delhi will directly have all the cognizance of all the activities of the valley over the next six months, this is one of the most important things for successfully executing the cleaning drive in Jammu and Kashmir. These moves indicate that government wants to play on front foot and it is in T-20 mode. It has done enough warm up in past four years now it’s time to directly get on the field and hit sixes and fours every day. A comprehensive clean-up process is in progress. The death of every soldier, every civilian by hands of terrorists operating in the valley, will be avenged.
