Bharatiya Janata Party’s decision to pull out of the unholy alliance with Mehbooba Mufti led People’s Democratic Party of Jammu and Kashmir is being lauded by political analysts from the whole of India. The citizens of India too are remarkably happy with the decision of the BJP Party President Amit Shah to withdraw support from PDP. The PDP was becoming a nightmare for the BJP, the image of nationalist BJP that is seen throughout India was being maligned due to antics of Mehbooba Mufti. Pulling out of the government will also give BJP the chance to make the situation in Kashmir better and improve their image nationwide prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The failed ceasefire, kidnap and murder of Indian Army soldier Aurangzeb, killing of Shujaat Bukhari and framing people in Kathua case might have been some of the reasons behind the decision to withdraw the support which were being discussed on all platforms. News channel Times Now has raised even more serious allegations against Mehbooba Mufti led PDP.

According to Times Now, BJP’s decision to pull out of the alliance was taken after keeping the national interests in mind, it is much more than a political decision. Mehbooba Mufti and her party had been putting roadblocks on the centre’s plan to control the terrible situation in the valley.
One big reason was PDP not wanting to avenge Aurangzeb’s death, the Indian Army soldier had been abducted and killed by the terrorists. Central government and the Armed forces were eager to avenge the cowardly murder of the soldier. Mufti refused to a targeted crackdown on the suspects citing escalation of unrest if such a counter offensive took place. This enraging act by the PDP was followed by another where they refused to provide extra security to the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims. The Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to start from June 28th and the central intelligence operatives got a whiff of an impending attack on the Amarnath Yatra. Atleast 20 more battalions of armed forces were to be deployed in the route of the Amarnath Yatra but the PDP refused, the reason cited by PDP was it would escalate tensions in the Kashmir valley.
Times Now also mentioned that the Centre wanted to conduct search operations in Srinagar to nab the killers of Chief Editor of Rising Kashmir Shujaat Bukhari. It also proposed sealing off Srinagar, especially the downtown areas of the valley but the J&K CM refused to this as well. She did not want swift and targeted actions against the killers of Shujaat Bukhari, infact the J&K Police in the past few months stopped sharing intelligence information with the Central Armed forces. Large scale rioting and stone pelting in the valley were taking place because the Central armed forces and the J&K police had stopped working in sync with each other all because of Mehbooba Mufti’s orders, Mufti is also the Home Minister for Kashmir.

Infact the Centre had raised the issue regarding degrading law and order situation to Mufti and PDP months ago, but she refused to take strict action and let the situations turn from bad to worse. She did not take any corrective or preventive measures which were necessary to save the Kashmir valley from burning.

Mehbooba Mufti and her party were hurting the Indian interests with their appeasement politics in the Kashmir valley. The images from Kashmir were hurting the BJP on a nationwide scale and these reasons must have been more than enough to break this coalition. Aurangzeb’s death and the heartless reaction from Mehbooba proved to be the final nail in the coffin for this coalition which was already bleeding to slow death.
