The hateful trolling of Kareena Kapoor exposes the authoritarian and intolerant nature of modern feminism

The Left Liberal ecosystem, which comprises largely of self-declared feminists, functions akin to the Mafia system. The two characteristics that are central to the functioning of both these systems are- Omerta, the code of silence, and two, the “you’re either with us or against us” mentality. The recent trolling and ridiculing of one of Bollywood’s own liberal darlings, Kareena Kapoor, is testament to the intolerance and ideological absolutism prevalent in left-liberal circles.

At a recent promotional event for her liberal and ultra feminist movie ‘Veere di Wedding‘, Kareena Kapoor failed to stick to the above two rules when she said she isn’t a feminist. Barely had she finished uttering these words that the trolls came rushing out of their closets, eager to bash this ‘dissident’ amongst their midsts.

“I wouldn’t say I am a feminist, I would say I am a woman and above all, I am a human being. I am also as proud to be known as Saif Ali Khan’s wife, as I am to be Kareena Kapoor. So that is just the way I am.” Speaking about the trolling that followed this statement, the Jab We Met actress said: “Main kuch bhi statement bolun, trolls toh shuru ho jate hain (whatever I say, trolling will start), especially when it comes to feminism,” Kareena added.

Asking someone to “eat poo” for having a different opinion, really classy.

This is a rather interesting turn of events, as it is fascinating to see feminists and left-liberals turn on their own kind. Kareena Kapoor has been a role model of the left-liberal ecosystem, from people defending her for naming her child after a mass murderer (Taimur), to her starring in a modern feminist movie which is being celebrated by liberals and feminists alike. The sudden lashing out by feminists and the left liberal ecosystem at Kareena Kapoor for deviating from their rhetoric only exposes what feminism has actually become. Initially started as a movement to guarantee equal opportunities to both men and women, and to guarantee that girls get the same education and treatment as boys, feminism has now become a central part of a larger agenda known as Cultural Marxism.

Cultural Marxism is a movement that undermines everything that is dear to ordinary people and attacks all institutions that form the cornerstone of civilisation. Feminism, or what it has turned out to be, serves this purpose well by attacking the concept of families, gender roles, heterosexuality or anything that was once considered normal before the liberal apocalypse began around a decade back. The feminist agenda is absolutist, and just like the mafia, it punishes those that rebel or deviate from the official line of thought. It is ironic that those that consider themselves to be ‘progressives’ are the least tolerant of people’s individual opinions from within their own side of the ideological spectrum.

The movement has very little left in common with what it was initially meant to achieve. While it has become common practice for several misandrists like Sagarika Ghose to misuse the feminist label to spew hatred against men, such a sudden change of opinion on Kareena Kapoor is rather alarming to see. The same people that masquerade as the voices of freedom and liberty are the ones that are the least tolerant of one of their adherents deviating from their regressive narrative.

Feminists and social justice warriors have time and again proved that they are the least accommodating groups in modern politics. The unjust and harsh treatment of Kareena Kapoor should serve as a stern warning to young women and girls alike. Feminism seeks to turn equality-seeking intelligent women into misandrist individuals with the use of misinformation and the exploitation of personal insecurities to convince the individual that they’re the victim. No feminist came to defend Kareena Kapoor for rightfully voicing her personal opinions, indicating that this victim culture is used upon personal convenience, as Kareena Kapoor is clearly the victim this time- of feminist bigotry and liberal intolerance.
