After imposing Governor’s rule in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the central government quickly deployed National Security Guards and snipers in the valley to counter the terrorists operating in the valley. The centre’s hard stance on eliminating threats in the valley has drawn the attention of the citizens around the country. Indian government has come up with yet another measure to break the will power of the terrorists operating in the valley. In the most recent development the centre has decided to stop the handover of bodies of top Lashkar e Taiba, Jaish e Mujahideen and IS terrorists to their families. The government’s decision to stop this practice is a well-timed move considering the burial of these terrorists is carried out in a grand manner by the radical elements. The burial grounds become recruiting centres for the terrorist groups operative in Jammu and Kashmir. The government has decided to bury the bodies of the slain terrorists in undisclosed locations so that none of these things happen.

Terrorist activities are on the rise in many parts of the valley for the past few months. Mehbooba Mufti’s soft approach to the radical elements have ensured that mass recruitment of terrorists has been going on unhindered in the valley. Apart from demanding the counter productive unilateral ceasefire in the Kashmir valley citing Ramzan, Mufti had also pardoned thousands of stone pelters which boosted the morale of the terrorists. The armed forces were always at a loss owing to the dubious stance of Mufti and PDP, but with the imposition of the Governor’s rule in the state there are no holds barred for the armed forces. The deployment of more number of security forces in the valley was also important considering the fact that Amarnath Yatra, one of the holiest pilgrimages for Hindus around the globe is scheduled to begin in just few days. A decisive and swift attack on the terrorists was very much needed and the centre is pushing for exactly that.

These collective measures will work in the long run in eliminating the threat of terrorists and radical elements in the valley. Terrorists and their families especially those who are young and about to join the terrorist factions will be discouraged after this announcement. Indian government has no obligations towards terrorists who have picked up weapons against India and its citizens. The decision is commendable and is a part of warfare on the terrorists being done at a psychological level. More such measures need to be taken so that the terrorists can be persuaded to return to mainstream from the path of violence.

Centre has the command of the Kashmir valley today and a widespread crackdown on the terrorists has begun. One timely move after another is being carried out by the centre to ensure safety of the civilians and dissuade terrorists from taking the path of violence. Not handing over their bodies to the families means eliminating all possible chance of glorifying the people who had picked up guns against their own country. Karma at play in the Kashmir valley.
