The Indian security forces, in another daring operation, have killed five more terrorists in Kashmir in the last 24 hours. This comes after the government has given the forces a free hand and the forces are going after the terrorists without the worry of political backlash. A professor-turned terrorist, Mohammed Rafi Bhat, was also killed in the encounter along with four other terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen. Bhat went missing on Friday. He was an Assistant Professor in Department of Sociology at the Kashmir University. The media has, as usual, gone gaga over him repeating the same clichéd lines about how he was a ‘bright’ youth who went astray. This is a reminder of how they attempted to humanize Burhan Wani by emphasizing a completely unrelated fact that he was the son of a poor headmaster. As Indian security forces finish terrorism in the valley, the media time and again displays their traitorous side. The media should mind its own business and let the army decide how to deal with these terrorists.

Thousands of people attended funeral of this terrorist professor. As usual, pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans were also raised by the mourners. Five terrorists were killed in the encounter which took place in Badigam village of Shopian District. Of the 5 killed, one is likely to be top commander Sameer Padder, who has been on the government’s hit list. Jammu and Kashmir CM, Mehbooba Mufti, expressed anguish over the killings of five of alleged civilians who were pelting stones in support of the terrorists during the encounter. She tweeted, “The loss of 5 innocent civilians in Shopian serves as a grim reminder that violence is no solution to the issues that plague us. We all must unite & pull J&K out of this endless nightmare by engaging in sustained & meaningful dialogue.”

If PDP’s soft stance towards disruptive radical elements in the valley continues, they can never free the valley from this menace of terrorism. You can’t run with the hare and hunt with the hounds.
Many youths who joined the terrorist organizations after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani in 2016 have had a short career in terrorism with some of them getting ‘retired’ within a fortnight. New name added to the list is of Mohammed Rafi Bhat. All the terrorists who appeared in the group photo with Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani are killed except Tariq Pandit who surrendered to the security forces.
Educated people like Bhat and Zakir Musa who had engineering degree shows the hollowness of liberals, leftists and media’s repetitive rhetoric on “youths in Kashmir are joining the terrorist organization because of lack of jobs and education.” As the case of well educated youths joining the militancy demonstrates, the argument is devoid of any logic or reason. This is just a deliberate attempt by the media to create sympathy for these terrorists. Most of the terrorists come from the prosperous family background. Many educated youths of Kerala joined ISIS. The list of educated terrorists is very long: Afzal Guru, Osama Bin Laden, Abu Bakar Al Baghdadi and now Mohammed Rafi Bhat. Very recently, Mannan Wani, a PhD research scholar of controversial Aligarh Muslim University, joined Hizbul Mujahideen. Education doesn’t change the regressive mindset. Rather, it provides more ways to justify the terror acts. Education can’t stop people from becoming terrorists. The core problem is unbridled proliferation of jihadist ideology among Kashmiri youth.
In 2017, Indian security forces eliminated more than 200 terrorists. Now that the Indian security forces are answering terrorist in the language they understand, it is getting harder for the proxies working in Kashmir to replace the fallen jihadis. This trend is more than likely to continue in the coming years, so the terrorist sympathizers in the media should get used to mourning on a regular basis.
