Sameer Tiger, along with an accomplice were killed in Pulwama on Monday by the brave security forces of the 44 Rashtriya Rifles working in tandem with the 182 and 183 Battalion of the CRPF and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police. The aforementioned death has boosted the already soaring morale of the security forces operating in J&K. It has also soothed the nerves of every peace-loving individual in the valley. Sameer Tiger was gunned down by the forces in a pin-pointed intelligence operation. Born Sameer Ahmad Bhat, Sameer Tiger was a chronic stone-pelter who had first been arrested in March 24, 2016 for stone pelting. He was released in a matter of a few days. He joined the terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen within 2 months and became the new poster boy of Kashmiri terrorism. He filled the terror poster boy vaccum created by the death of Burhan Wani. He subsequently joined Jaish-e-Mohammad, the terror group based in Pakistan.
Sameer was an A++ category terrorist according to Indian intelligence agencies. An aura of stardom had been created around him by the terrorists in order to woo the young and make the others afraid. Sameer had joined Jaish-e-Mohammad in 2017 and he had become a favourite of his terrorist bosses. A picture of him holding a M4 gun had been widely circulated in the past few months to lure the youth of Kashmir towards terrorism. Sameer had already succeeded in luring many youngsters from the valley into his group and that is the reason why his death is being celebrated as a major victory for the armed forces. The 44 RR received a tip off regarding the location of Sameer Tiger on Monday which led to a Cordon and Search operation. At approximately 10:00, the terrorists had opened fire on the security forces. Sameer, along with one of his accomplices, was gunned by the security forces in retaliatory fire. One suspected accomplice of Sameer Tiger managed to get away as some locals had started hampering the law and order situation in order to save the terrorists. The bodies of Sameer Tiger and his accomplice were recovered by the forces before they withdrew from the area.
Sameer Tiger is one amongst the many faces of terrorism which have recently emerged from the valley. The terrorists have learnt how to use social media in order to woo and recruit youngsters. The death of their poster boys disrupts the propaganda network as well as the long-term plans of the terrorists. The security forces and common people can now breathe easy knowing that one of the most hyped terrorists and a big security threat has been neutralised. This will add to the list of terrorists who have been killed in the recent times by security forces. The morale of the Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir based terrorist groups will break and hopefully there will be less disturbance in the valley in the upcoming days. The terrorists and their sympathisers will mourn over the body of Sameer Tiger, a man who chose to fight and hurt his own country. Meanwhile, the security forces ready themselves to deal with any other homegrown or Pakistani militant that are looking to harm India and its citizens.
