Indrajit Lankesh, the brother of Late Gauri Lankesh, campaigned on Wednesday for Dr. Ashwath Narayan, the BJP candidate from the Malleshwaram constituency. Dr. Ashwath Narayan is also the present MLA of Malleshwaram, Karnataka.
In the past ,Indrajit Lankesh has repeatedly blamed the Congress government, led by Mr. Siddaramaiah, for Gauri’s cold-blooded murder. He has termed the murder as a ‘failure of law and order’.
“What I know is that the Siddaramaiah government was responsible. It is an example of a complete failure of law and order. I blame the Siddaramaiah government for my sister’s death” he said, adding that the chief minister should have given her protection, as she was “working with the government to bring Naxalites into mainstream society”.
Gauri Lankesh was a senior journalist and publisher from Bengaluru. On 5th September 2017, three unidentified assailants opened fire at Gauri outside her house which resulted in her death. The investigation was handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the state government. The suspects could not be nabbed easily. In fact, just one suspect has been arrested till now. This particular arrest looked like one which was made, keeping in mind the disappointment of the general public with the investigation. Also, the arrest was made two-three months prior to the elections. The Congress party alleged that the BJP was involved in this because of the ideologies of the deceased. Also, a number of personalities have showed their anger regarding this incident. One such personality is Prakash Raj. He is an Indian actor who has prominently featured in South Indian films. After this infamous incident, he has openly come out against the BJP and RSS because he alleges that it was their ploy to kill her. Since then, he has spoken about this incident at a number of interviews. The most recent one was the interview with Subramanian Swamy. It was in this interview where Mr. Raj said he has decided to go against the BJP and RSS on account of the death of Gauri Lankesh. But then now Gauri’s brother, Indrajit supporting the BJP shows the allegations against the BJP were invalid.
Another infamous incident was the murder of Mr. M.M. Kalburgi which again happened during the tenure of this Congress government. He was shot dead in the morning of 30th August 2015, at his residence in Dharwad district of Karnataka. M.M Kalburgi had demanded protection from the ruling Congress party on account of the death threats he received, but was not provided with it initially. Later on, he was given ‘special protection’ but then he eventually asked the police to withdraw it. In this case too, the Congress party had alleged the role of the BJP because of the ideologies of the deceased.
The investigation in this case too, did not yield results. The culprits have not been nabbed till date. The investigation in both these murder cases has not been up to the mark. If the BJP was really involved in these murders, the Congress party would have pressurized the police and investigation teams to nab the culprits at the earliest.
It is very clear from this that the Congress party has framed the BJP in these incidents only for political mileage and nothing else. Apart from the above mentioned cold-blooded murders, the deaths of two IAS officers have shocked the state. In the case of D.K. Ravi, an IAS officer posted in Kolar, Karnataka, the crime scene was not cordoned off by the cops.
Now it seems the people of Karnataka wants to hear it from Mr. Prakash Raj at the earliest on his take on Indrajit Lankesh’s campaigning for the BJP.
