The Congress leaders had leveled allegations of horse trading on the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders from Karnataka. The Congress leaders had gone so far as to accuse BJP’s senior most leader, B.S. Yeddyurappa of pushing money to Congress MLAs. These accusations were levied by the top Congress leaders after the hung verdict in Karnataka on 15th May. The Congress, infact, had holed up its winning MLAs inside the Eagleton resorts fearing a split. Congress might have to face the music in courts as well if the BJP decides to go ahead and press charges based on the allegations. Congress MLA Shivaram Hebbar has disowned the audio tapes released on Saturday by Congress colleague and MLC V.S. Ugrappa. Congress had accused BJP leaders of approaching Hebbar’s wife over phone. She was allegedly offered RS 15 crore cash and a cabinet seat to her husband if he voted for BJP in the floor test, according to the alleged audio tapes.
Hebbar took to social media late in Saturday, the post written by him reads, “I learnt about the audio tapes of the conversation purportedly between my wife and BJP leaders later when I was in the assembly. This is neither my wife’s voice nor has she received any call. I condemn whoever has released such audio clippings for political reasons. This is a fake audio tape…”
Facebook post of Congress MLA Shivram Hebbar from Yellapur, in which he denies his wife ever getting a call from BJP, calls it a fake audio clip… Shame on Congress for brazenly lying, spreading mis-information and media channels for lapping it up. It is all over regional paper. pic.twitter.com/ZoIUqhgXWi

Hebbar’s post dismisses all charges levied against BJP leaders by the Congress for horse trading. It further shows how Congress had created fake charges in order to malign the name of prominent BJP leaders. The audio tapes released by the Congress were fabricated according to the post written by Hebbar who won the seat in elections from the Yellapur (Gen) seat in the Uttara Kannada constituency.

This revelation made by the MLA who has won from Congress ticket shows the real truth behind the false propaganda spread by Congress through the audio tape. Congress had tried to build a narrative, blaming BJP for trying to lure and corrupt leaders from other parties. Hebbar’s denial of the offer is a harsh rebuke for the Congress leaders who specialize in spreading fake news and propaganda to build their image. Their previous attempts at trying to malign the name of other leaders also comes to mind, Congress, however, did not anticipate that the rebuttal would come from their own factions.
Leading dailies have already started reporting on the nefarious activities of the Congress party, the tussle for seats in the Karnataka cabinet will further lay bare more dirty politics in the days to come. Congress and JDS leaders will keep stooping down to new levels of greed. The people of Karnataka will suffer from the ongoing tussle which is bound to start as soon as the new government forms.
This is not the first time Congress has used such tactics to arouse suspicions in people’s minds. Similar allegations were levied on BJP Party President Amit Shah and Karnataka leader Janardhan Reddy by Congress leaders. These too would prove to be false once investigation is carried out. MLA Hebbar has bravely refuted the claims of his own party regarding the baseless accusations of horse trading. He will face an onslaught by the corrupt Congress leaders led by Rahul Gandhi. But he has succeeded in swiftly quashing the baseless claims made by state Karnataka as well as central leadership of Congress.
