Chetan Bhagat, one of the India’s best-selling authors, was the target of anti-Modi hatred of so-called ‘liberals’ on social media. But, instead of playing the victim card, he doubled down on his critics and gave prompt and fitting replies to the hateful tweets. It all started when one twitter user questioned Chetan Bhagat on “Why there is a sudden decrease in your political aggression? Is it because your favorite BJP & Modi losing their popularity graph & in next few years it is bound to fall further? Why don’t you write on Rupee-Dollar or petrol prices these days? (sic.)”

Chetan Bhagat pointedly rebutted this series of vague accusations and mindless insinuations, “1) cos there’s no scams happening. Screaming without reason spoils my credibility. 2) Have written lots on BJP’s issues, 3) Have explained INR in tweets, see it, 4) Excise duties on petrol too high have said it many times we need One-GST, 5) Get a life (sic.).”

In a reply to another twitter user who had dug out Bhagat’s old tweets all related to petrol prices between the periods of 2010 to 2013, he stated. “Have said many times we need One-GST and fuel price excise is too high. We did not have GST in 2014. Rests of the tweets in 2014 were on fuel rationing being proposed which we don’t have now. Hating Modi (or any other leader) doesn’t make anyone more neutral. Now go get a life (sic.)“

Chetan Bhagat further cleared his position on the matter with yet another tweet.
There are some Modi haters who want me to write hate tweets about Modi govt else they threaten to keep calling me biased. Not going to work. Have roughly an equal no of articles pro-anti BJP/Cong. So I know what I am doing. Sorry I can't be a mouthpiece of your hate.

At last, Chetan Bhagat ended the thread by replying to a tweet asking him, “why is he even replying to such trolls?” He answered the question by stating that when someone is spreading misinformation and rumors, it’s his duty to make things clear. “yeh baat bhi sahi hai. Dar nahi hai, par koi galat baat faila raha ho to clarify karne me harz bhi nahi hai (I am not afraid but if someone is spreading misinformation, there is nothing wrong in providing clarification).”

This whole episode shows how much it is difficult for a person to hold independent views not endorsed by the left-liberal thugs. Any neutral person/celebrity holding a favourable opinion of the Government gets viciously trolled and abused on social media by leftist and lutyens’ cabal. Lutyens’ cabal believes in Bush the famous Bushism “If you are not with us, you are against us.” Ironically, these are the same people who relentlessly complain about freedom of speech and expression being in danger under the current dispensation. Their comrades on social media want others to be the spokesperson of their hate and ideology.
This is not an isolated incident. Last year also when credit and rating agency, Moody, released favourable rating on India’s economy, the Communist party supporters mistook cricketer Tom Moody as the international rating agency and started abusing and trolling him. They hilariously proclaimed that Tom Moody took a bribe from Narendra Modi to upgrade India’s rating.
Although the incident is portrayed as funny, it shows the sad and sick mindset of so-called progressive people who cannot digest any appreciation about PM Modi and India or any contrarian thought for that matter. Their hatred for an individual has transformed into hatred for the entire nation. Now, they don’t just hate PM Modi but also the entire population and the nation who votes PM Modi and BJP to power. Even after such illiberal behavior, they ironically call themselves liberal. They want to control what other people think, say and write. William F. Buckley Jr. has rightly said, “Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.”
