Kejriwal government maintains silence over the poor performance of Delhi Government schools.

Delhi government left no stone unturned in taking the political credit for the brilliant performance by Delhi students in the 12th standard CBSE examinations. However, miserable performance in 10th standard CBSE examinations by Delhi students has raised pertinent questions regarding the education system in Delhi under the Kejriwal government.

It is true that Delhi improved its performance considerably as far 12th standard CBSE results are concerned. It is also true that government schools performed better than private schools and there was a surge in the total pass percentage. However, it was totally unfair on the part of AAP leaders to take entire credit for the hard work of students. The mainstream media went gaga over this and Atishi Marlena, AAP leader and former education advisor to the Delhi government, tried placing entire credit for the achievement of the students on the Delhi government and AAP. Manish Sisodia and Atishi Marlena were widely perceived as the harbingers of a new era and were credited for this success.

However, the Delhi government and AAP are not even talking about the 10th standard results. Delhi has turned out to be one of the worst performing regions. It has recorded a miserable pass percentage of 78.6 % which is well below the overall pass percentage which stands at 86.70%. Shockingly, government aided schools have turned out to be the worst performers recording a pass performance of 73.46%. Mainstream media which was singing laurels for the Delhi government after 12th CBSE results has hardly taken cognizance of 10th CBSE results.

After the 12th CBSE results, it seemed as if a new chapter had been initiated as far as the education sector in Delhi is concerned. However, the 10th standard CBSE results have come as a shocking reality check. The pass percentage is way below the national average. Delhi, the national capital, has emerged as one of the worst performers under the Kejriwal government. This is not a mere aberration but a worrisome development. Something must be seriously wrong with the education system in Delhi and the policies pursued by the present government leading to such catastrophic performance. Pass percentage below 80 per cent cannot be a mere incidental failure. Almost one fourth of the students failing at this level are both embarrassing and unfortunate.

It is unfortunate that the Delhi government is praising itself incessantly and trying to reap political benefits for the hard work of 12th standard CBSE students. But no one is taking responsibility for the miserable and embarrassing performance in 10^th standard CBSE examinations. Leave alone taking responsibility, the Delhi government is not even talking about it. They seem to be oblivious towards this issue and reluctant to address it. No one is disputing that 12th standard results are stupendous and Kejriwal government even deserves some credit for it, however they must come out explaining what went wrong with the 10^th standard CBSE students. The political leadership is not about taking credit for success but taking responsibility for miserable failures. While the Kejriwal government is busy with its propaganda over 12th CBSE results, it seems that the younger lot in Delhi lags far behind their peers across the country.
