Kashmir valley is widely known as Switzerland of India. The natural beauty of Kashmir has attracted tourists from India and abroad since ages. It is surprising how this paradise on earth became hell for its indigenous population in the 1990’s and has remained hostile territory for them ever since. The happenings of the Kashmir valley in the 1990s has been misreported and downplayed countless number of times. The extent to which the misrepresentation by the intellectual media has happened is revealed by how no Human rights organisation of the world has investigated and accused any Islamic terror group in the valley till date. The perpetrators of the crime till date remain unknown and unnamed as they are shielded by the Congress, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference and other regional parties. The intellectual and liberal wing of the media too comes out in the defence of the perpetrators of the genocide from time to time.
Tavleen Singh, a prominent journalist, recently sparked off a debate on social media platform Twitter when she blamed Jagmohan Malhotra, ex-governor of Jammu and Kashmir, for the exodus of Kashmiri Hindu families.
Rubbish. I was in Srinagar and saw what happened. More than 300,000 pandits left overnight almost because of the violence that Governor Jagmohan was unable to control. The Indian media has always been ‘patriotic’ on Kashmir. https://t.co/c45D5blTGs

Not true. Kashmiri Pandits were driven out wn masse because Jagmohan who was Governor at the time was unable to guarantee their security. This is why he is often charged with abetting this ethnic cleansing. https://t.co/bikuPYJ18E

Jaghmohan Malhotra was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir from 1984-1999 a time when militancy in Kashmir was at its peak. He tried to solve the militancy problem in the state working in tandem with the Farooq Abdulllah led NC government. His efforts in ending the terrorism network were highly praised throughout his first tenure as Governor. He was asked to become the Governor for a second time in 1990 when situation had become too volatile in the valley. He was asked to take control over the situation in Kashmir and he tried everything in his capacity. Local newspapers were filled with warnings for the Kashmiri Hindus to flee the valley. The warning came from Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. Many other local papers replicated this order throughout January. The calls from mosques began coming at midnight of 20th January 1990, asking all the ‘Kaffirs’ to flee or get killed. The local Islamic leaders started mobilising the crowd to come out against the ‘Kaffirs’. The rapes, massacre and inhuman killings of children, young and old would make anyone shudder. It will be difficult to recount the horrors faced by the Hindu families in Kashmir following the 20th of January.
1. In the wake of a new string of lies about Jagmohan and Kashmiri Pandit exodus, the facts are: On January 19, 1990, Jagmohan was in Raj Bhawan in Jammu when a vicious, orchestrated campaign against Pandits began from mosques all over Valley

Tavleen Singh’s tweet made it possible for the bigots from Kashmir and other pseudo-intellectuals to come out in the open and share their beliefs about the Kashmir crisis. The perpetrators began to narrate that inefficiency of the Governor had led to the killings. Not once did they mention the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen or Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) which had been the conspirators and perpetrators of the crimes in Kashmir valley.
The secular voices of Kashmir valley were given a befitting reply by Kashmiri pundits themselves. The Kashmiri pundits exposed the double game of the liberal forces and their hypocrisy on the plight of the Kashmiri pundits.
Instead of blaming those who were responsible for the violence you are repeatedly using the pretext used by them to brush off their guilt. Clearly, journos like you, B Dutt & Rajdeep etc are responsible for peddling a faulty narrative about 1990!

This is brainwashing at its best. This is how liberals build, nurture, propagate and establish a notion. This is nothing but an attempt convert Kashmiri Pandit displacement into an administrative blunder rather than a case ethnic cleansing which it is.
This is a reminder to all those who think that the Kashmir issue is over, it is not. The Kashmiri pundits are still displaced. The criminals are still at large in Kashmir and they are enjoying the lands and property of the displaced minority from the valley. We need to educate people about what really happened in Kashmir as a case history and as an example of how the Islamic fundamentalists deal with minorities. It might be start towards a path for reconciliation if the Kashmiri pundits are allowed to resettle, but it’s never wise to forget, and the story of Kashmiri Pundits should never be forgotten. Tavleen Singh, of all people, should keep that in mind before taking a high moral ground and engaging in appeasement.
