Kharge trolls his own party, says BJP more “Khandani” than Congress

BJP, congress, priyank kharge, khandani, karnataka

It seems like the Congress party is yet to learn from its mistakes. After a video exposed the unjust insult meted out to our national song ‘Vande Mataram’ by Congress President Rahul Gandhi, it seems that the tomfoolery of Congress is unlikely to abate any time soon. Hardly had a week passed, when Karnataka’s State Minister Priyank Kharge was back at what he is best at: ranting. In his latest rant, the Karnataka IT minister has accused BJP of being more khandani than Congress.

To quote him,
“…When a doctor’s son can become a doctor, an actor’s son can become an actor, an engineer’s son can become an engineer, why not a politician’s son become a politician?…”
“…How many successful politicians and CM’s children have become successful politicians? But people do not realise that we get elected by them. And the dynastic issue, I think, is a dead issue among the parties also.”

As if this was not enough, he further added:-
“…BJP is now leading us into dynastic politics… BJP accuses the Congress party that it relies on “one khandan” (Nehru-Gandhi family). (But) they (BJP) are becoming more khandani than us…”

This is not the first time that Priyank Kharge has resorted to such muckraking. Less than a week ago, he tried to discredit the presence of Yogi Adityanath in Karnataka, by calling his model of governance a means ‘to spew hatred.’
He was royally trolled by diligent netizens left, right and center. But going by this statement of BJP sponsoring nepotism more than Congress, we can say without a doubt that Mr. Kharge is yet to learn from his previous PR disasters.

Continuing his rant further, Mr. Kharge said, “…We do agree that Congress party’s foundation is based on the Gandhi ‘parivar’ and we are proud of it… Right from fighting for the independence, the right to education, and the right to food acts…which other family has done so much? Yes, they (Nehru-Gandhi family) are the glue that holds us together and we are good with it,” he said.

Now, for some tough questions, Mr. Kharge. Apparently, you are the son of the Congress leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge. Had he not been here, would the wings of your political ambitions have gotten flight? But to say that Gandhi Parivar is the only family that has contributed to the nation is like expecting a turtle to fly. Need I remind you of the sacrifices that the families of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh etc. had to make, so that India could be a free nation?

The accusation that BJP is more nepotism-oriented than Congress is also far from the truth. Unlike the Congress, none can tell who would be the next leader of the party to assume the post of the President. Just recently, the party denied a ticket to CM candidate B.S. Yedyurappa’s son, asserting the importance of political experience more than just family ties. Not really khandani now is it ? No doubt that the BJP has some leaders who have benefited from the political gene in their families. However, none of them have managed to assume the highest post in the party, no matter how powerful they might seem, and that is one thing which sets BJP a class apart from other political parties.

Let’s not even start on Congress’s love affair with nepotism. It is because of this very flaw that they lost a gem like Himanta Biswa Sarma, who not only opened the gates of Assam for BJP, but is now a living nightmare for his previous party, courtesy the snub he received from Rahul Gandhi for trying to make some sense before the Assam elections in 2016 in terms of political campaigning.

If someone like Priyank Kharge talks about BJP being more khandani than Congress, he is only making a laughing stock of himself, nothing else. What’s next? Is the BJP more anti-national than the Congress as well? It would be interesting to see if the denizens of Karnataka are also as dumb as Mr. Priyank Kharge perceives them to be. Summer is coming.
