The Gujarat Elections will go down in history as a compendium of Congress’ desperation. It will definitely stand out as a testimony to temple visits by the leader of a party who following his party line was hell bent on defaming, ridiculing and even stripping the Hindu community of all their rights. But on the last day of the eventful elections, the Congress triggered what may be described as the most disgraceful controversy during the campaigning for the crucial Elections even as Congress leader, the Former Finance Minister called the Election Commission a ‘puppet’ of the BJP. This can be best described a desperate attack by Rahul’s Congress in order to divert the blame for an impending defeat. This was preceded by another of the “family’s” loyal servants, Sujewala calling the highly respected body, Modi’s PS and BJP’s frontal organization.
In this article we decode the reasons behind this attack, the future strategy of INC after an inevitable drubbing at the hands of Gujarat electorate and the systematic approach followed by the Congress leadership and its minions to shake up the foundations of this Nation if the electorate keeps on rejecting them.
Shifting the blame of an obvious defeat:
It seems that the Indian National Congress was compelled to take this extreme step of throwing an unreasonable allegation in the face of one of the most respected constitutional bodies of the country only in order to save the newly coronated President of the party from the ridicule that must follow a defeat after a bitterly fought one sided contest. The fact remains that this defeat might well prove to be the last straw as the Congress had made huge claims of defeating the Prime Minister in his own bastion prior to the Elections and now it needs a face saving device.
This naïve attack on Election Commission, an institution whose integrity is beyond doubts, reeks of an attempt to paint the Elections as unfair because the Congress is already aware that it does not stand a chance.
This is evidenced by the fact that there was nothing in the Election Commission’s conduct to show that the Authority was even slightly biased towards the BJP or prejudiced against the Congress and therefore the question of acting as the puppet of the Prime Minister does not even arise. In fact, Congress only benefitted from the Commission’s conduct during the elections as the Election Commission had censored the use of the word ‘Pappu’ for the Congress President Rahul Gandhi who is referred to by this word in common parlance due to his constant defeats and incompetence which actually seems to be an unreasonable curb on the BJP running into the elections.
What to expect:
As soon as the results will be announced, the Congress will definitely use the new excuse taken up by the opposition parties, the allegedly faulty EVMs. The Indian National Congress has gone all out trying to allege collusion between the Election Commission and the Bhartiya Janta Party. It seems to be in a mood to take up the face saving device invented by the Delhi Chief Minister. There will be unsubstantiated, unscientific and make-believe allegations of tampering of the Electronic Voting Machines by the use of Bluetooth devices and a demand not only by the Congress, Hardik Patel but also by their allies-in-crisis in other States.
The sudden outburst against the Election Commission before the announcement of results can be understood as a preparation by the Congress to use this relatively recent political weapon of blaming the rules, if you can’t win the game.
Conclusion:
The Election Commission is one of the most critical institutions of our country as it is invested with the duty of conducting the General Elections as well as the Assembly Elections. It takes care of the fact that the foundations of the democratic set up in India remain strong and intact.
The Indian National Congress, or for that matter any other political outfit, did not pass of such politically motivated remarks on this independent and strong institution in the past or even if such remarks were made by anyone they were never given much attention by the top leaders of any political party. But having understood that Congress is done and dusted, its leaders seem to be in a mood of maligning and shaking up the institutions, authorities and constitutional bodies of this Nation in order to ensure that if they can no longer rule over this country, no one else can govern it properly also.
Since 2014, the Congress has been facing a barrage of defeats and with every defeat its sense of avenging the electorate and the Nation as a whole for continuous embarrassment is also gaining ground. These attacks on the democratic set up of our country should not only be taken as a face saving device but also as a part of its mischievous strategy to weaken the very foundations of India.
