Dolkun Isa Episode: Anti-Modi Indians or Anti-India Indians?

Dolkun Isa

China loves Pakistan. The Karachi Port is of paramount importance to them. China and India share a confusing relationship, on one hand there is fierce belligerence on the territorial borders and on the other hand there are strong economic ties. India is one of the major markets for Chinese Goods. But of course, India is no ally to China and Pakistan certainly is one. Hence China put a technical hold on India’s efforts to get Maulana Masood Azhar designated a terrorist by United Nation last month. India on the other hand invited four Chinese Uyghur Nationals, three of them with dissident tags and one Dolkun Isa with a Terrorist tag to meet Dalai Lama in Dharmashala. Seemed like poetic justice. This was the same India which had to face a reprehensible standoff when soldiers of Chinese PLA infiltrated our borders and stayed inside for weeks.

India fighting back was music to the ears of common nationalist Indian. India under Modi had finally started retaliating to enemy’s unjust moves. But the jubilation was transitory.

A report in The Hindu reads:

Indian visa for Dolkun Isa, exiled Uighur-Chinese leader wanted by Beijing, has been cancelled, sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) confirmed to The Hindu on Monday.

Officials said that the visa was cancelled on finding out that the Electronic Tourist Visa that Mr. Isa had applied for and received was invalid for addressing public meetings in India. However, they said that they would issue him a fresh visa if he applied under appropriate category.

Earlier, Mr. Dolkun Isa, claimed that he had received an email stating that the Indian visa issued to him was cancelled.

“I really wanted to visit India. But I received an email on Saturday, informing that my visa that was issued on April 6 has been cancelled. No explanations were given. No Indian official called me personally to convey this decision. It’s a very sad situation for us,” Mr. Isa told The Hindu, sounding disappointed over the phone from Berlin.

After the Dolkun Isa News went public, Different people reacted differently. The over joyous Patriots were crestfallen and visibly distressed. The temperate Patriots called it a prudent move because they thought poking the dragon in the eye was not the wisest thing to do. But there is an exclusively diverse tribe of Indians who were actually celebrating India’s withdrawal. I was horrified to check the #ModiBowsToChina trend on Twitter.

Dolkun Isa Episode maybe a diplomatic catastrophe. This may be lack of forethought in the government. Maybe Modi needs to count his steps before proceeding frontward or weigh his words with judgment before speaking. Maybe Modi needs better counselors but it is India that he represents.

When He invited Dolkun Isa and the Chinese Dissidents, it was India that invited them. When the step was undone, India undid it. And when people rejoice such an occasion, taking it is as a godsend opportunity to disparage Modi and vent their malice out against him. It is dishonorable. It is unpatriotic. It is borderline treason.

There were numerous incursions by the Chinese Army and Ceasefire Violations by Pakistanis in Manmohan Singh Government. I vividly recall people angered by it. I vividly recall widespread frustration and bitterness against the UPA 2 but I do not remember a single celebration.

Modi’s ascension to the throne has made “them” very desperate and it is well evident from the way celebrate every “failure” of his even if it is against the interest of the nation.
