Smriti Irani Speech was passion and some more passion. Smriti Irani peeled of all the layers of sophistication during her speech and what we saw was the raw emotions on display. These type of speech only happens when someone has to prove her innate virtue.
Smriti Irani Speech: She has been the top target of sexist slurs
After assuming office, she was first mocked for her educational qualification. A senior Journalist asked her degree while a congress leader called her ‘half-educated minister’. Will that journalist has the audacity to ask about the degrees of congress president or vice president? No, they dare not. Had congress questioned about the qualification of an illiterate CM of an important state? No, they are political allies. Having said this, it is all about the intent of serving the country and no person should be denied this chance.
Then congress general secretary Gurudas Kamat called her a ‘Kaamwali-bai’. The stopping of this level against a Minister had very rarely been seen in Indian politics. As expected, these statements never rocked media but floated enough to let people laugh and mock Mrs. Irani.
Another sexist opposition leader Mr. Sharad Yadav told directly Smriti Irani during a parliamentary debate on skin color, “I know who you are”. The whole nation left stunned but the degree of condemnation across the country was mild.
The most pervert comment came from another congress leader, Nilamoni Sen Deka, former Assam agriculture minister, who referred Smriti Irani as Modi’s second wife. Again media went cold.
These continuous derogatory personal remarks in such a short span of time is phenomenal. These are enough to rattle a person. However, like the most astute politician, Mrs Irani never lost her calm and very rarely replied to these remarks.
Smriti Irani Speech: Her conscience was being targeted?
But in last couple of months, her conscience was targeted. Almost every opposition leader and all of media virtually convicted her in Rohit Vemula’s suicide. A perception was created across the nation that Government in general and Mrs. Irani in particular is vehemently engineering the saffron-isation of universities. A malicious campaign with the help of some gullible students were orchestrated across the nation. Her ‘idea of India’ was questioned.
A true nationalist for whom the country is first can’t tolerate such nonsense. She will fight till her death. It was expressive in her speech when she said, ” I will cut my head and offer you if you are not satisfied with my answer”.
Smriti Irani Speech: Logical, Fact Based and very angry
The speech continued in Lok sabha for 50 minutes. She gave logical, fact based and pointed answers for all opposition allegations. Even in that emotional state she displayed the oratory skill which most of the congress leader can only dream off. She continued her personal battle against Rahul Gandhi when she said, “Rahul Gandhi has derived the maximum political mileage out of a child’s death. Had he visited even once when 600 students died in the Telangana movement”
This Smriti Irani’s fiery speech will be long remembered in Indian parliamentary history. No wonder when Prime Minister hailed her speech as “Satyamev -Jayate!”.
Smriti Irani Speech: Some indirect questions
But the need of hour is to answer the questions which the HRD Minister of India raised in the temple of democracy. Some of the indirect questions were why the letter written by Congress leader V Hanumanth Rao for the need of justice in Hyderabad University under congress appointed VC never came in media? Why Chief Minister of Telangana never spoke to HRD ministry but blaming center in full public domain even after Mrs. Irani proactively called him? Why no one allowed a doctor near Rohith, to revive him? Even if Rohith blamed no one in his suicide letter, why opposition used it a political tool?
Smriti Irani Speech: Some direct questions
Few question were more direct: Why an event in JNU was forcefully held when the permission was withdrawn to hold the event? Why University faculty who have nothing to do with Government suspended the involved students? Who wants to celebrate Mahisasur Martyrdom Day on the streets of Kolkata in the name of freedom of speech? Where our kids learn all these?
Concluding her speech she said “Even Indira Gandhi lost power, was out of power, but his son never supported slogans of India’s destruction”
The congress party who were demanding a debate from this fascistic government had no better thing to do than walking out of the house.
