In a bolt from the blue for the liberal brigade, popular journalist and the current editor cum journalist from TheWire, Vinod Dua has now been accused of sexual harassment by another journalist, who has opened up about the incident that occurred several years ago.
In a long, detailed account as posted on Facebook, freelance journalist Nishtha Jain narrated her ordeal when she interacted with Vinod Dua as a fresh graduate on his popular show, ‘Janvani’, as follows:-
Long story short, Nishtha has explained how Vinod Dua at first shared an extremely lewd joke in a hushed tone before their episode went on air, and when she resisted him, he not only abused her, but also harassed her, and even stalked her for days to come.
As of now, Nishtha has hinted at opting for the legal recourse, something which was allegedly ignored by the higher authorities concerned. If these allegations are true, it exposes Vinod Dua as an extremely shameless hypocrite, a sexual fiend, who sports an outward facade of soft spoken liberal.
On one hand, he would criticize actor Akshay Kumar on absurd ground, just because his daughter and comedienne Mallika Dua was criticized by him for her ultra feminist tantrums on ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’, which led to a change of the judges. But on the other hand he would hide his own sins with such finesse and may I say shamelessness, as if it was his right to do so.
We are no strangers to his holier than thou attitude, when it comes to peddling agenda in the name of neutral and unbiased journalism. Vinod Dua whose culinary show on NDTV, ‘Zaika India Ka’ became an instant hit, came out with his show on TheWire, ‘Jan Gan Man ki Baat’, which is now one of the main sources of anti-government agenda driven news reporting. From FRDI Bill to Kashmir policy, to even the alleged compensation forwarded by UAE on Kerala floods, you name it and Vinod Dua has shamelessly peddled his lies with elan, much to the embarrassment of his own clique.
However, what has also caught attention is Nishtha’s strong worded criticism of the hypocrisy of Vinod’s own daughter Mallika Dua, who has vociferously defended some of the accused, including the notorious comedian Utsav Chakraborty, whose expose by Mahima Kukreja set the MeToo campaign in India officially. The above tweets and statements are enough to expose her hypocrisy on such a sensitive subject. From defaming the likes of Arunabh Kumar and Zakir Khan for her selfish motives, to shamelessly defending the likes of Utsav Chakraborty, Mallika has done it all. Ironically, if anyone dares to object her, they suffer the fate exactly how Nishtha Jain has on Twitter, whose account now stands suspended, just because Mallika Dua allegedly found her’s dad MeToo expose offensive. As Vinod Dua stands himself accused of the crimes he and his daughter would freely label others for without any credible proof, it is only a matter of time whether his likes would be able to continue with their web of lies or not. For now, the latest MeToo incident serves as a tight slap to those who think such liberals are the real progressives in this nation.
