Perhaps, many leaders of our opposition parties belong to the same class.
I don’t find any other logic to explain the irrational comments made by these over the ‘ban of higher denomination notes’. While even the ‘advisors under Peepal tree also could see the long term results of this step, so shrewdly executed, the ‘irresponsible’ opposition leaders proved their worth by making truly irresponsible comments.
Ladies first. It was Didi Mamta, who could never explain the sources of her funds went over board calling the decision – Draconian. I think the former quiz master still has not lost his touch with English and perhaps, is handling her twitter account. Waiting for one sheep so that he can follow, Chief Movie Reviewer of Delhi retweeted Didi’s comment, thus supporting her stance.
Then came Rahul Gandhi, who claimed that Modi cares little for the ordinary people of the country, who – as per the Clown Prince were thrown into utter chaos.
The mastermind of Vyapam, Digvijay babu was mocking Modi, when he tweeted “Vyapari Hahakar”.
Seems the President-in-Waiting of Congress and his followers simply could not comprehend what had happened and how to react.
Congress spokesperson known for his explanations-in-loop Surjewala perhaps was not given proper brief that he can elaborate and stated official stance of Congress to support Government’s move against black money. But, after all he was representing the opposition party. So, he wondered why the Government is planning to introduce Rs. 2000/- notes while scrapping the one thousand ones. As usual, he questioned the ‘timing’ of the decision. It is high time, Modi appoint Surjewala as chief ‘Jyotishi’ so he can fix ‘correct timings’ to declare any decision.
Surjewala was hampering on how Modi failed to bring back the black money from foreign banks and his promise to pay 15 Lacs to all the poor in India.
I suggest he should ask the rulers of the time when the money was taken out of India, his party leaders, how and why they allowed the money to go out of India. As we talk of election promises, I still remember the promise ‘Garibi Hatao’ made by the grandmother of the current President-in-Waiting Rahul Gandhi. Nearly five decades have passed and the country has seen three generation of leaders from that family, but the promise is yet to be fulfilled. Only exception being Uncle of Prince tried to prevent poor people from giving birth to children during emergency.
The original maverick of Indian Economics and Commerce, whose credentials no one can question, the original brain behind the Unique ID – Professor Chidambaram tried hard to appear that he was not happy with the decision and so wondered about the logic of introducing 2000/- notes, but scrapping 1000/- notes. May be he genuinely has a doubt. Of the lot, only he deserves to get an explanation, for others cannot understand the explanation, even if provided.
Samajwadi Party Pari-war was apparent. While the party welcomed the move, its Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav wondered why the 2000 denomination is being introduced. Perhaps, the party and CM divided the response of Congress into two halves and took one each.
Behenji felt Modi created an economic emergency. May be her poor vote banks had to burn the sacks stashed with high denomination currency. And even for this comment, she had to STUDY the situation for one day. Or was she busy in converting her gunny bags yesterday?
Maharaja of Marxists, Sitaram ignored present action, but was talking about bringing the black money stashed abroad, back.
Forget opposition leaders, the self-proclaimed journalists who were on the way to uphold values of Journalism, founder of ‘the wire’ Venu questions ‘which party hoarded 100 rupee notes for UP elections’. Well, it is time liberals take a note that these type of comments only made ‘real liberal’ people move away from the hypocrite liberals. An editor of a financial newspaper, rather than commenting the pros and cons of the announced policy, mocks the ruling party! When will they realise it was only because of such people and their comments, right wing had taken birth and growing.
Of course, there were few leaders like Chandrababu Naidu, who were asking for this ban on high denomination notes for over a year. But, India needs such political leaders in all states, who could rise above party preferences. In fact, Chidambaram could well have claimed that Modi is doing only what he planned long ago, by introducing the Unique ID card scheme that remains the backbone of current episode.
Forget the naysayers, Modi has delivered a much needed kick to the Indian society. Of course, Modi played the ‘socialist’ by robbing black money of the rich and making them poor. But then, who is the poor the opposition is talking of? Was there not the saying ‘Hum Garib hain, par Be Iman nahin” few decades ago. Did they not transform into money-mongering ones in the last few decades, when the political class tried to do business with the ‘power’ that was invested with them by the people? Are they not the ordinary citizens who were trying to evade taxes? Who taught them to become – ‘Be Iman’? Rahul Gandhi and his followers need to answer these questions.
The real poor are those who live in slums, in forests, on pavements. It is time we stop calling those with regular jobs as poor. Yes, in current times, it is difficult to clearly demarcate people in two classes – rich and poor. However poor one was, as said in the film ‘Deewar’, “Being poor doesn’t give one the right to become a thief. How can the society survive if all poor becomes thieves?”
There is something called common good. And there is something called being good. Hope our society will have citizens who like to be good so that the society can be good.
