Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, visited Headquarters Western Command at Chandimandir on Thursday and interacted with Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western Command, along with other senior officers from both services.
The interaction centred on enhancing operational preparedness, strengthening joint planning, and furthering integration between the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force for synergised operations. Discussions reflected the growing emphasis on interoperability within India’s contemporary security environment, where military operations increasingly draw on complementary capabilities across services.
According to accounts of the meeting, the talks stayed focused on building greater synergy between the two services and ensuring operational planning remains closely aligned, so that commanders and formations can coordinate their respective strengths more effectively and mount a more cohesive response across the operational spectrum. Western Command’s frontline role along India’s western borders gave the visit added operational relevance.
Building on Operation Sindoor
The visit comes against the backdrop of Operation Sindoor in May 2025, during which the Army and the Air Force operated in close coordination for both air defence and offensive operations through an integrated and networked environment. That experience has fed into a continuing push to deepen Army-Air Force jointness at the command level.
Air Chief Marshal Singh also met Air Warriors serving with Western Command, acknowledging their contribution to the seamless integration of the Army and Air Force and underlining the importance of personnel working at the interface of the two services. Their presence within the Western Command structure provides a direct link between Army and Air Force formations, helping improve coordination and deepen mutual operational understanding on the ground.
