The CBI has registered a fresh FIR in connection with the 2020 death of Disha Salian, acting on directions of the Bombay High Court dated September 2, 2026, in a writ petition filed by her father, Satish Ishwar Salian. The case has been registered under sections dealing with criminal conspiracy, gang rape, murder, causing disappearance of evidence, and public servants fabricating records or acting to shield offenders, with DSP Puran Kumar named as the investigating officer.
What the FIR says
According to the FIR, Satish Salian’s statement — recorded before the High Court on September 11 — disputes the original finding that his daughter, who was working as a celebrity manager and had also managed actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died by suicide on the night of June 8–9, 2020, at a Malad flat in Mumbai. He alleges she was gang-raped and murdered, and that a false suicide narrative was subsequently constructed to cover this up.
The complainant states he was shown photographs of his daughter’s body but noticed no blood or major visible injuries, only a small mark near her jaw — which he says raised his doubts at the time, though he was persuaded by others present, including Salian’s fiancé Rohan Roy, to accept the suicide theory while in a state of shock.
The alleged motive and Rhea Chakraborty’s role
The FIR alleges that Salian had come into possession of information concerning Aditya Thackeray and others, and intended — along with Sushant Singh Rajput — to make it public. At the time, Aditya Thackeray was a state cabinet minister and his father, Uddhav Thackeray, was Maharashtra’s Chief Minister. The complainant alleges a conspiracy was hatched to prevent this disclosure.
Central to this alleged chain is Rhea Chakraborty, Rajput’s then-girlfriend. The FIR states that Salian shared the information with Rajput, who in turn shared it with Chakraborty. It further alleges Chakraborty was in contact with Aditya Thackeray and actor Dino Morea, and passed on word to them that Salian and Rajput were planning to expose the matter.
The complainant flags the day of Salian’s death as significant: he states that Chakraborty left Rajput and blocked his phone number that same day. After learning of Salian’s death, Rajput reportedly grew fearful, telling those around him, in substance, that “those people will not spare me,” and allegedly had staff delete data from his devices and arrange for CCTV footage at relevant premises to be erased — details the complainant says later surfaced through statements by Rajput’s family and staff to the CBI during its separate investigation into Rajput’s death.
Alleged evidentiary contradictions
The FIR lists a number of inconsistencies the complainant says undermine the original suicide account — including CCTV footage allegedly showing movements inconsistent with the timeline given by witnesses, conflicting descriptions of the body and clothing across records, a scene-reconstruction test that reportedly failed to replicate the body’s landing position (with its documentation now said to be missing), and contradictory official accounts regarding whether forensic swabs or only smear slides were collected and examined.
Names cited in the FIR
The FIR lists a long roster of individuals whose roles it says require investigation — spanning alleged principals, associates and law-enforcement personnel: Aditya Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray, Rohan Roy, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty, Sachin Vaze, Param Bir Singh, Anil Deshmukh, several named officers of Malvani police station and the earlier SIT, forensic and postmortem officials, building security staff, and other named acquaintances of the victim.
It’s important to stress: these are allegations contained in a First Information Report, filed on court direction, based on one party’s statement — they are the starting point for a criminal investigation, not findings of guilt. None of the named individuals, including Rhea Chakraborty, have been convicted of any offence in this matter. Chakraborty has previously and publicly denied any wrongdoing in matters relating to Rajput’s death, which was the subject of extensive earlier investigation by multiple agencies. The CBI’s fresh probe will determine what, if anything, the evidence in this case supports.
