Google has announced a major initiative for students in India aiming to crack the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). The tech giant has launched a new feature in its Gemini AI that allows students to take mock JEE tests for free.
These tests will not only mirror the difficulty level of the actual JEE but will also provide suggestions on how students can improve their results. The announcement came during the India AI Summit 2026, with the mock JEE tests being offered through a collaboration between Google, Careers360, and Physics Wallah.
This launch follows Google’s recent introduction of SAT prep tests for students planning to pursue higher education in the US.
How the JEE Prep Test Works on Google Gemini
While students have already been using AI tools like Gemini and ChatGPT to prepare for exams, this new feature takes it a step further.
Similar to the SAT mock tests, the JEE prep tests will likely provide tailored questions that reflect the real exam’s difficulty, giving students a realistic sense of what to expect.
To start a test, students simply need to enter a prompt such as, “I want to take JEE test.”
Beyond evaluating answers, Gemini will help students understand mistakes and suggest improvements. Students can also request step-by-step explanations of concepts and guidance on where they went wrong.
The tests will be available in multiple languages, expanding accessibility to a wider group of students.
As per India Today, previously, Google CEO Sundar Pichai had hinted at expanding prep test options in Gemini.
After the SAT prep test release, Pichai tweeted, “Helpful update for students, you can now take full practice SATs for free in the Gemini app. It uses vetted content from The Princeton Review and gives you feedback straight away. Starting with the SAT today, but more tests are on the way.”
During the announcement, Google revealed that India is the leading country in Gemini usage for learning, including exam preparation and solving real-world problems.
At a time when education fees are increasingly high, the free mock JEE tests could serve as a cost-effective way for students to learn, practice, and receive feedback while preparing for one of the world’s toughest competitive exams.
