The United States is selling weapons to its NATO allies in Europe so they can provide them to Ukraine as it struggles to fend off a recent escalation in Russia’s drone and missile attacks.
“We are making money from the Ukraine war as NATO is buying our weapons” Trump said in a press briefing at the oval office. “We are not spending any money on the war, The war is being funded by NATO. They are buying our equipment’s, in fact I don’t want to make any money on the war but we are actually making money out of the war because they are buying our equipment” he said
So, the Question from Indian’s is loud and clear Is selling weapons to prolong the war is okay, but India purchasing oil for public use is not? So the US hypocrisy is exposed to the world yet again Indians were accused of funding Russian war by buying its oil, called ‘blood money’ by Trump’s trade advisor Peter Navarro. Here Trump openly admits the US profits from the Russia–Ukraine war by selling weapons to NATO. If buying oil was ‘blood money,’ what do we call cashing in by literally selling the means to kill, Mr. Navarro?
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had earlier said some of the US made weapons that Ukraine is seeking are deployed with NATO allies in Europe. Those weapons could be transferred to Ukraine, with European countries buying replacements from the US
“It’s a lot faster to move something, for example, from Germany to Ukraine than it is to order it from a (US) factory and get it there,” Rubio told reporters during a visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Trump is selling weapons to Ukraine via European countries at a 10 per cent premium using the war to fulfil American coffers that are getting depleted as a result of his tax cuts and ballooning government expenditure .
Moreover, Trump has essentially made the US military a private militia as he has put a cost to US involvement in providing security guarantees to Ukraine.
“We are selling arms to Europeans, who are then selling them on to the Ukrainians, and President Trump is taking 10 per cent mark-up on the arms. So maybe that 10 per cent will cover the cost of the air cover,” US Treasury secretary Scott Bessent had earlier told Fox News.
Ironically, Bessent who has inadvertently exposed Trump’s profiteering is the same official who accused India.
“They [India] are just profiteering. They are reselling. This is what I would call the Indian arbitrage buying cheap Russian oil, reselling it as product,” Bessent previously told CNBC, adding that India has made $16 billion in “excess profits”.
As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reportedly offered to buy up to $100 billions of weapons from the United States , Trump is set to get a $10 billion cut in addition to any taxes that sellers would way to the US government anyway.
Trump has also said in the past that he will not put American troops on the ground in Ukraine as part of any peacekeeping force. But he has said that he will be open to deploy American warplanes to police Ukrainian skies. He has suggested that those planes would operate from Ukraine’s neighbouring countries. Notably, Ukraine’s neighbour Poland is a NATO member and has regularly hosted fighter planes of allies like the United States and the United Kingdom.
So with all these activities one can evidently see that US is the one which is funding the Russia-Ukraine war and India is just purchasing Russian Oil just to safeguard the energy needs of 1.4 Billion Indians.
