Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting as a powerful platform to strike at the heart of the Opposition’s strategy on the fifth anniversary of the historic abrogation of Article 370 accusing them of self-sabotage by forcing a debate on Operation Sindoor. In a speech filled with symbolism and political punch, the Prime Minister linked the Opposition’s actions to past failures and the government’s decisive steps on national security and constitutional integration.
“Opposition Shot Itself in the Foot Over Op Sindoor”: PM Modi
Addressing NDA MPs on August 5, a date heavy with national significance, PM Modi reminded the country of three landmark events that fell on this date abrogation of Article 370, the foundation laying of the Ram Mandir, and now the national debate around Operation Sindoor.
“Where else will you find such an Opposition that hurts itself by demanding a debate on Operation Sindoor?” he quipped, mocking the INDIA bloc for attempting to corner the government but ending up exposed instead.
The PM noted that the Opposition, in its eagerness to challenge the Centre, only helped highlight India’s firm resolve against terrorism. “They miscalculated badly. Instead of putting the government on the backfoot, they displayed their own lack of national coherence,” he said.
Reclaiming Kashmir: BJP Applies Constitution Where Others Only Quoted It
Shifting the focus to Jammu & Kashmir, PM Modi emphasized that while the Opposition often spoke of the Constitution, it was his government that had implemented it in full in the Union Territory. The abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 had ensured the total constitutional integration of Kashmir, a move that had long been denied by previous regimes.
“They speak about the Constitution, but never allowed it to apply to Jammu & Kashmir,” he said, underlining the hypocrisy of critics who questioned the government’s commitment to constitutional values.
Operation Sindoor: A Bold Message to Terror and Its Backers
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 6–7 in response to the barbaric Pahalgam terror attack, received strong backing in the NDA resolution passed during the meeting. The PM and his allies praised the Indian armed forces for delivering precision strikes deep inside terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK.
The April 22 attack in Pahalgam, where 26 innocent tourists were brutally killed by TRF terrorists, had shocked the nation. Reports of religious profiling by the terrorists before the killings had added a chilling dimension to the attack.
In response, the NDA government launched twin operations Sindoor and Mahadev underscoring India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. The resolution declared that India would not be deterred by nuclear threats or global diplomacy and would act decisively in its national interest.
A Cultural and Strategic Statement
The naming of the mission as “Operation Sindoor” wasn’t just military it was deeply symbolic. “Sindoor” represents the sanctity and dignity of Indian womanhood and family. The NDA stated that while terrorists sought to violate that sanctity with violence and hatred, the Indian forces reclaimed national honour through strength and precision.
The resolution also credited recent defence reforms under the Modi government especially greater jointness among forces, the push for indigenisation, and the rapid advancement in drone and surveillance capabilities as factors that made such swift and effective retaliation possible.
Modi Govt Turns Opposition Ambush Into a Moment of National Unity
By linking the anniversary of Article 370’s repeal to the national security debate sparked by Operation Sindoor, PM Modi effectively turned a potential Opposition ambush into a moment of national unity. The NDA’s unified stand behind the armed forces, and the resounding support for India’s right to self-defence, made clear that the country’s resolve against terrorism transcends politics.
In trying to challenge the government, the Opposition ended up revealing its own confusion and weak grasp on national security matters. August 5 will now be remembered not just as a day of constitutional correction, but also as a day when India’s firm resolve was once again validated both on the battlefield and in Parliament.
