A deeply troubling case of Love Jihad has surfaced from Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district, involving a young Hindu woman who was allegedly deceived, exploited, and traumatically violated by a man posing under a false identity. According to police reports and the victim’s testimony, the accused, a Muslim man, is said to have introduced himself as a Hindu on social media, gradually earning the girl’s trust before allegedly sexually assaulting her, recording the act without her knowledge, and later using those recordings to blackmail her.
Over time, the victim was not only subjected to repeated exploitation but also reportedly pressured to abandon her faith and convert to Islam. The case has sparked outrage locally and renewed public concern over the misuse of false identities to prey on vulnerable individuals.
Fake Social Media Identity
According to the victim, the accused who was identified as Naved alias Kasim Pathan, posed as a Hindu boy named Shiv Verma on Facebook and Instagram, creating fake profiles to befriend her. As trust grew, he met her in person, even wearing a ’tilak’ on his forehead and a ‘kalawa’ (sacred Hindu thread) on his wrist to convince her of his Hindu identity.
The victim alleges that Naved invited her to a rented room where he sexually assaulted her and secretly recorded the act using a hidden camera. He then used the video to threaten and blackmail her, coercing her into continued sexual exploitation and subsequently pressuring her to convert to Islam.
Shocking Discovery of Multiple Victims
The situation escalated when the girl happened to go through Naved’s phone and discovered numerous obscene videos and photos of other girls too. This led her to believe that he was not acting alone. She alleged that Naved’s brother Kaif, friend Aqeel, and other family members were also involved in the larger scheme, possibly targeting multiple girls using similar tactics as in her case.
Police Takes Swift Action
Following her complaint, Shahjahanpur Kotwali Police registered a case and acted promptly to arrest the main accused, Naved alias Kasim Pathan. The arrest came after members of the Hindu Yuva Vahini surrounded the police station, demanding strict action.
Police have now filed a case under multiple serious charges including gang rape, blackmail, and forced religious conversion against:
Naved alias Kasim Pathan (main accused)
Kaif (his brother)
Aqeel (his friend)
Aslam Khan (his father)
Uzma (his mother)
The victim has been sent for medical examination, and further investigation is ongoing.
Anger Erupts Among Hindu Groups
The case has triggered strong reactions from Hindu organizations, who have termed it a case of ‘organized Love Jihad.’ Hindu Yuva Vahini leader Abhishek Tiwari stated that the accused used religious symbols to deceive Hindu girls, lured them with false promises of marriage, and later pressured them to convert to Islam.
He also claimed that the mobile phone seized from Naved contained obscene content involving several Hindu girls, suggesting that this was not an isolated incident but part of a larger, well-planned conspiracy.
The police have assured that they are conducting a thorough investigation, looking into the role of other suspects and verifying whether similar crimes have been committed against other victims.
