In what appears to be part of a growing spy network operating through social media, Punjab Police have arrested another YouTuber for allegedly sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence. This second arrest comes just days after Haryana-based content creator Jyoti Malhotra was taken into custody for similar espionage charges.
The arrest involves Jasbir Singh, a resident of Rupnagar, who runs a YouTube channel named ‘JaanMahal’. According to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, Singh was allegedly working closely with Pakistani intelligence operative Shakir, also known as Jutt Randhawa, and was part of a larger network engaged in spying and anti-India propaganda.
Attended Pakistan Event, Met Army Officials
What has raised alarm bells is Jasbir Singh’s known association with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a former official at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi who was expelled from India for espionage. Singh had reportedly attended a Pakistan National Day event in Delhi at Danish’s invitation, where he met with Pakistani military officials and bloggers known for pushing pro-ISI narratives.
DGP Yadav revealed on social media that Singh had travelled to Pakistan three times — in 2020, 2021, and 2024. His mobile devices, which are now being examined by forensic experts, contained multiple contacts based in Pakistan, and efforts are underway to track the flow of information and possible financial transactions.
Tried to Cover Tracks After Malhotra’s Arrest
Sources say that after Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest, Singh attempted to delete records of his conversations with Pakistani handlers, raising suspicions and prompting swift action by the police.
An FIR has been filed in Mohali, and authorities are expanding the investigation to track down other members of the suspected espionage ring.
Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber from Karnal, Haryana, was arrested in May 2025 by Punjab Police on serious charges of espionage linked to Pakistan’s intelligence network. According to officials, she was allegedly in contact with operatives of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), including Ehsan-ur-Rahim, also known as Danish, a Pakistani national and former official at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi who had previously been expelled from India for similar activities.
Malhotra is accused of sharing sensitive information related to Indian military operations, particularly around the time of Operation Sindoor — a recent cross-border military strike conducted by Indian forces against terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Investigators believe that she may have passed on details regarding troop movements and other classified data during or after this operation, posing a serious threat to national security.
