OTT platform Ullu has landed itself in a pool of controversy after its reality show House Arrest was taken down in response to massive public backlash over vulgar, coercive, and degrading content. The show is hosted by alleged actor and former Bigg Boss contestant Ajaz Khan.
One of the clips of the show got viral on social media platforms that made the public outrage over showcasing vulgur content and building upon sexual exploitation of women for views.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo moto cognisance of the issue and issued summons to Ullu CEO Vibhu Agarwal and Ajaz Khan, asking them to appear before the Commission on May 9, 2025.
The action follows the circulation of disturbing footage from the show, where Ajaz Khan is seen pressuring women into performing sexually suggestive acts on camera — acts they clearly appear uncomfortable with.
Ajaz Khan’s House Arrest is a disgraceful assault on our cultural values. Vulgarity, exploitation, and indecency are being sold as content. It’s not just the host—platforms, producers, and enablers must be held accountable. @MIB_India @NCWIndia must take urgent action.… https://t.co/NTO3QU31Ge

One of the viral clips shows Khan confronting a female participant about sex positions. When she hesitates and says she hasn’t tried any, Khan taunts her, “Tumne experiment nahi kiya kabhi?” a loaded and humiliating remark.
In another graphic segment, women are ordered to direct others to enact different sex positions on-screen while cameras roll. The tone, content, and Khan’s aggressive conduct have been slammed as nothing short of soft-core coercion disguised as reality TV.
The NCW condemned the show in a strongly worded statement, calling it “a blatant violation of consent, a disgrace to women’s dignity, and a dangerous precedent for digital media.”
NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar stated that such content promotes sexual coercion and objectification and deserves legal scrutiny under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and the IT Act, 2000.
Ajaz Khan, whose past is already marked by controversies and arrest in drug related case, now finds himself in the spotlight for taking sleaze and exploitation to new depths. His behavior on House Arrest has drawn sharp criticism not just from the public but also from political leaders.
“This wasn’t reality TV , it was a disgraceful abuse of power,” one viewer wrote online. Amid the uproar, Ullu has removed all episodes of House Arrest, and an FIR has reportedly been filed against Khan. The incident has reignited the debate over OTT regulations, with leaders like Shiv Sena’s Priyanka Chaturvedi calling for urgent censorship reforms.
