Invited by French President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked for an important diplomatic visit to France that will start from 10th February and culminate on 12th February.

The top agenda of PM Modi’s France visit will be the co-chairing of a Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) summit in Paris that will bring together specialists, tech executives, and world leaders to discuss the future of AI.

Itinerary Overview:

February 10: Upon arrival in Paris, Prime Minister Modi is supposed to attend a dinner alongside presidents and heads of state and government presided by President Macron at the Élysée Palace. The event is expected to invite numerous CEOs from the technology sector.

February 11: The Prime Minister shall co-chair the AI Action Summit with President Macron. The aim of this summit is to encourage international collaborations relating to the development of AI technology, ensuring an inclusive, secure, and trustworthy manner in promoting innovation and public welfare.

In his departure statement, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the bilateral component of his visit—that it provides an opportunity to review the progress of the 2047 Horizon Roadmap for the India-France strategic partnership with President Macron.

After the summit, the two leaders will head to Marseille for the inauguration of India’s first consulate in France. They will also visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project in Saint-Paul-lès-Durance, one of the partner countries, including France, establishing the harnessing of energy for good. Moreover, at the Mazargues War Cemetery, Prime Minister Modi will pay his tribute to Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives in World Wars I and II.

Subsequently, his France visit will be followed by a trip to the United States of America where he will meet POTUS Donald Trump. This visit marks the first meeting between the two leaders since President Trump’s election victory and inauguration in January. During this working visit, Prime Minister Modi and President Trump intend to build on their previous cooperation and lay the groundwork for further elevating and deepening the “Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership” between India and the United States, with particular focus on areas including technology, trade, defense, energy, and supply chain resilience.

This exposure tour of PM Modi provides an opportunity for India to signal the strength of its commitment to international partnerships by fostering dialogue on pivotal international concerns, most notably in the domains of artificial intelligence and strategic collaboration.
