Delhi Police have arrested Zoya Khan, the 33-year-old wife of notorious gangster Hashim Baba, from the Welcome area of Delhi. She was found in possession of 225 grams of heroin, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore in the international market. This arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the crackdown on organized crime and drug trafficking in the capital.
Zoya Khan, often referred to as Delhi’s “Lady Don,” is the third wife of Hashim Baba, who has been behind bars since last year for his alleged involvement in the murder of gym owner Nadir Shah in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash. After her husband’s imprisonment, she had been supervising over criminal operations such as extortion and narcotics distribution. She was actively involved in these enterprises while her social media status bolstered her image, garnering her a huge fan following.
Zoya’s arrest was the conclusion of a carefully planned operation by the Delhi Police. Based on intelligence regarding her involvement in drug trafficking, the area near Welcome was put under surveillance. When intercepted, Zoya was caught in possession of bags filled with heroin, allegedly brought in from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh—a well-known hub for narcotics distribution networks.
Investigations have also revealed that Zoya carried on a regular correspondence with her husband during his time in jail. She paid him numerous visits to Tihar Jail, during which he was rumored to have instructed her in the operation of the gang using coded language. This cooperation very much reflects the couple’s attempts to keep their criminal empire in operation.
Zoya’s arrest has initiated investigations into rackets. Based on her suspected involvement in harboring criminals implicated in the Nadir Shah killing, she had emerged as a key player in organizing violent crimes. In addition, there is evidence that her family has connections to criminal activity. Strikingly, her mother was arrested last year for allegedly running a sex trafficking ring and is out on bail. These revelations lay bare the vast web of organized crime operations run by Zoya and her accomplices.
Meanwhile, Hashim Baba is said to have made a judicial confession incriminating another gangster, Lawrence Bishnoi, in the murder of Nadir Shah, implicating a system of cooperation between two crime syndicates. Bishnoi allegedly linked Baba with a direct line to work from within prison confines to continue committing crimes.
