BSP Leader Harbilas Singh Rajjumajra Shot Dead in Haryana, Police Probe Underway

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Harbilas Singh Rajjumajra succumbed to his injuries after being shot on Friday, as confirmed by police officials. The assailant remains unidentified. At the time of the attack, Rajjumajra was traveling in his car accompanied by two individuals, Puneet and Gugal. Puneet also received gunshot injuries in this incident. In making a deep observation, the BSP expressed, “BSP Haryana State Secretary Harbilas Rajjumajra was attacked with bullets by unknown assailants and died in Haryana; administration should now immediately take cognizance of the incident and take strict measures against the miscreants,” tagging Haryana Police in its message.

In the current Haryana assembly elections, Rajjumajra is the BSP candidate. Apart from the political activity, he owned a banquet hall by the name of Radhey Farm in his village and was also an agriculturist.

The Bahujan Samaj Party, founded in 1984 under the leadership of Kanshi Ram, aims to represent and secure power for the Bahujan Samaj, which includes Dalits, Adivasis, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), and religious minorities. The ideology of the party revolves around social transformation and economic emancipation of these communities.

In Haryana, the BSP is working hard to build itself as a considerable force. It could win only one seat in the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly elections. One of the means of establishing a firm foothold in Haryana was the candidature of Rajjumajra from Naraingarh.

The incident has raised questions about the politics and the current law-and-order situation in the area. BSP insisted that the Haryana government take appropriate and immediate action against the perpetrators of the act. Queries persist, and the political and public establishments await news of the purpose of the attack, as well as the identities of the attackers.
