The full-dress rehearsals for Republic Day on January 23 marked an important step and one of the milestones towards restoration of national unity and progress as the mega event approaches. The magnificent military march from Vijay Chowk to Red Fort, showcased India’s might, cultural diversity, and historical achievements. For the first time in history of the Republic Day Parade, the women agniveers will be part of the Indian Navy band.

This year’s Republic Day parade shows a partnership between India and Indonesia, in which 160 marching cadets from Indonesia will be present. Additionally, a 190-member military band will also take part alongside Indian Armed Forces on Kartavya Path. This is an international partnership indicating India’s rising profile in the world and its immediate diplomatic ties with Southeast Asia. Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh added that this march would show India’s military strength as well as national oneness and cultural diversity.

The highlights of the parade will be 31 tableaux representing various states, union territories, and ministries focusing on “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas,” signifying heritage and development through the years. Two of the tableaux will celebrate 75 years of the Indian Constitution, signifying the country’s commitment to democratic values and to governance.

The parade will also salute the 150th birth anniversaries of great leaders, including Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who had prominent places in India’s independence struggle and nation-building. Beside this, the tableau of the India Meteorological Department will showcase India’s achievements in weather forecasting.

The grand finale will feature an ace bunch of a flypast by 47 aircraft showing off India’s air power and technological accomplishments.

This splendid parade not only defines India’s glorious past but also displays India’s pledge towards even further development, oneness, and world leadership. Hence, the Republic Day celebration shall fulfill the pride of the event for all.
