Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday criticized the Congress for allegedly pushing youth towards drugs and use the money earned to contest elections.
On October 2, Delhi Police had seized over 560 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana worth around Rs 5,620 crore, and one of arrested accepted that he worked with the Congress in the past.
“Drugs worth thousands of crores of rupees were seized in Delhi recently. A Congress leader is suspected to be the kingpin. Congress wants to contest elections from the money it gets by pushing the youth towards drugs,” the Prime Minister said while addressing an election rally in Washim of Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, five people have been held in the case. One Tushar Goyal, who was reportedly associated with the Congress, has been identified as the main accused.
The Congress, as was expected, denied any link with Goyal.
However, Goyal reportedly admitted during questioning that he worked as chairman, RTI cell of Delhi Pradesh Congress until 2022.
Investigating officers have also found out that Goyal, in his social media profile had listed himself as RTI Cell Chairman, Delhi Pradesh Congress.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while reacting to the incident on Friday, said that the Modi government is working to guide the youth towards education, sports, and innovation, Congress is using its political influence to enable drug trafficking.
