Arti Sarin, First Woman Officer to head Armed Force Medical College (AFMC)

On October 1, 2024, a major advancement in the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMC) was celebrated, with Vice Admiral Arti Sarin being appointed as the 46th Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) and no woman had held such a high position before in the history of the institution, not even for one day.

It is hard to believe that the first woman to head the Tri-Service Armed Forces Medical Services and the highest-ranking woman in the history of the Indian Armed Forces Medical core is none other than Arti Sarin.
