The Shiv Sena split into two factions led by Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde. On one side, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena adheres to the old and traditional ideology of Shiv Sena, while on the other side, Eknath Shinde’s new Shiv Sena is allied with the NDA. This division confused voters about which was the real Shiv Sena. Ignoring Fadnavis caused deep dissatisfaction within the party and weakened external support.
