Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he will be the guest of honor at a community reception titled ‘Ahlan Modi’ on February 13. The event, aptly translating to ‘Hello Modi,’ is scheduled to take place at the Sheikh Zayed Sports Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Organizers anticipate filling the stadium to its maximum capacity, reflecting the enthusiasm and anticipation surrounding this historic occasion.
To ensure meticulous planning and seamless execution of the event, various volunteer committees have been established. Over 350 Indian community leaders, representing diverse regions and communities, gathered at the India Club in Dubai on January 3 for a pre-event briefing in Abu Dhabi. The collective excitement and warm reception during this meeting showcased the eagerness with which the Indian diaspora in the UAE is looking forward to the visit.
This visit marks Prime Minister Modi’s seventh to the UAE since 2015 when he became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country in 34 years. His repeated efforts have significantly contributed to the enhancement of Indo-UAE relations, fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations. The upcoming visit further underscores the commitment to strengthening these diplomatic ties, benefitting both India and the UAE.
Before this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited UAE in July 2023 and the visit was marked by a warm welcome as an illuminated Burj Khalifa adoring the Indian flag highlighted UAE’s appreciation for India. Moreover, the economic collaboration between the two countries has witnessed remarkable growth, with bilateral trade increasing by 19 percent and reaching USD 85 billion. PM Modi confidently projected that the target of USD 100 billion in trade could be achieved soon, showcasing the substantial progress in economic cooperation. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), exemplifies the commitment and cooperation between India and the UAE. Additionally, the agreement on trade settlement in both countries’ currencies reflects the depth of economic cooperation and mutual trust. Like the last visit, the coming one is also expected to help prosper trade and partnership among the two nations.
A noteworthy highlight of the visit is the inauguration of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in the UAE on February 14. Prime Minister Modi graciously accepted the invitation extended by Swami Ishwarcharandas and Swami Brahmaviharidas, along with the board of directors of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha. Swami Ishwarcharandas expressed admiration for Prime Minister Modi’s substantial contributions to the nation and the world. He commended Modi for the unparalleled renovation and development of pilgrimage sites across India, a feat that has left an indelible mark on recent centuries.
This significant event is a testament to the strong relationship between India and the UAE. The open arms with which the UAE has welcomed Prime Minister Modi reflect the deepening bond between the two nations. India’s efforts to strengthen global ties, particularly with countries like the UAE, are evident despite criticism from certain OIC member states. OIC has time and again propagated anti-India views and accused India of Islamophobia.
While 🌎 is grappling with unprecedented #COVID19, RSS-BJP combine is busy unabashedly advancing “Hindutva” agenda. The commencement of construction of a Mandir at the site of Babri Masjid is another step in this direction & Govt & people of 🇵🇰 condemn it in the strongest terms. pic.twitter.com/1V4iWW7tvi

Despite claims from such member states, portraying the BJP as anti-Muslim, Prime Minister Modi’s endeavors to enhance relations with the UAE and other prominent Arab countries refute these assertions. The ongoing efforts to build bridges and foster diplomatic ties at the global level exemplify India’s commitment to leadership and cooperation. In contrast, criticism from Pakistan and elements within India only serves as a stark contrast to the positive trajectory India is taking on the world stage.
